No Apologies From Dem Klan Defender

Nearly four months after the Senate's most influential Democrat, former majority leader Robert Byrd, defended the Ku Klux Klan in his autobiography, Byrd has yet to offer an apology - and fellow Democrats have not asked him to make one.

"Robert C. Byrd: Child of the Appalachian Coalfields" hit bookstores in June - and featured Byrd's firsthand account of his days as an up-and-coming member of the nation's most notorious anti-black terrorist group.

According to the eight-term West Virginia Democrat, the Klan he remembers was "a fraternal group of elites – doctors, lawyers, clergy, judges and other 'upstanding' people."

At no time, said Byrd, did he hear his fellow Klansman preach violence against blacks, Jews or Catholics.

Byrd recalls that his admiration for the racist organization began early, when he was a little boy watching his father march in KKK parades.
"Watching from the window, young Byrd saw people dressed in white hoods and robes and wearing white masks over their faces. Some years later, he wrote, he learned that his father had been a member of the Klan and took part in the parade" - according to a Washington Post synopsis of Byrd's book.

By the age of 25, the top Democrat saw the Klan as an opportunity to prove his mettle. After joining up in 1942, Byrd rose quickly through the organizational ranks, earning his stripes within months as a Kleagle - the Klan term for recruiter.

Byrd excelled in the role - boasting in his book that he'd recruited at least 150 new Klansman. The feat helped him get elected to the position of "Exalted Cyclops" - a race Byrd proudly notes that he won "unanimously."

Klan Grand Dragon Joel Baskin said Byrd's performance was so impressive that he personally urged him to enter politics. "The country needs young men like you in the leadership of the nation," Byrd remembers the Grand Dragon telling him.

In recent years, the West Virginia Democrat has made obligatory-sounding comments about his Klan membership being the "biggest mistake of his life."
But Byrd's book makes it plain he still looks back on his Klan days with a measure of nostalgia. During his first congressional race in 1952, Byrd defended his decision to join the Klan, saying membership in the group "offered excitement."

Five decades later Byrd was still using the "N"-word in national TV interviews.

His lingering fondness for the Klan nothwithstanding, top Democrats have remained mum on Byrd's characterization of its membership as "upstanding people."

Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid, Senator Ted Kennedy and presidential candidate Hillary Clinton continue to rely on Byrd as a key ally in tough political battles - and sometimes refer to him as "the conscience of the Senate."

This is why I hate the Democrats so fucking much.  Could you imagine what would happen if a Republican was a former Klan member?  How much crap he'd be hit with?

Democrat can do it, and they dont fucking care in the least.  This sort of behavior nullifies all the outrage and criticism about everything else.  If this doesn't bother them, why should anything else they complain about matter?

That idiot is 86 or 87 and running for yet another six year term, which he probably will win.  That will put him in his mid 90s.

Idiot.

Yep, fine, upstanding, respectable people. That's why they wear masks.

Don't you get it? The left is too busy yelling about how evil Bill Bennet is because of one out of context quote to worry about a leading senator in the Democratic party who was a bloody MEMBER OF THE KKK AND WHO NOW SAYS THAT IT WASN'T ALL THAT BIG A DEAL.

It makes perfect sense if you learn to think like a liberal. And by think like a liberal, I mean shove a fishing hook up your nose and use it to pull out most of your brain.

Then you will think just like a liberal.

I fucking hate the Klan.

So therefor I hate Byrd. And since a lot of Dems like to make apologies for him, I hate them too.

NAACP march protests skinhead gathering

More than 50 members of the NAACP marched Saturday in rural Paulding County to protest Hammerfest 2005, an annual gathering of avowed racists.

The NAACP group, clad in bright yellow T-shirts, chanted slogans as they walked about two miles between a church and a roadside bar along Ga. 120 where the skinhead gathering was scheduled. A roughly equal number of people stood and lounged outside the Georgia Peach Restaurant and Museum; some heckled the protesters but were otherwise peaceful.

A law enforcement contingent that included at least one helicopter and police officers —outnumbering both sides in the sometimes boisterous verbal confrontation — escorted protesters to and from the bar and closed down a section of the highway during the march.

Stopping outside the restaurant, NAACP protest leaders mounted a pickup truck and used a bullhorn to call upon restaurant owner Patrick Lanzo to disavow the gathering being held on his property.

"Racism is terrorism," the protesters chanted. A loudspeaker set outside the restaurant piped a steady stream of racially offensive comments.

Protest speakers, including rally organizer Kimberly Alexander, president of the Douglas County chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, also called upon Lanzo to remove messages on a portable sign in front of his business.

One side of the sign welcomed Hammerfest while the other contained a disparaging declaration — which included the n-word — about enter- tainer Michael Jackson and his recent acquittal on child molestation charges..

There were no arrests during the protest, said State Patrol spokesman Larry Schnall. "Overall a successful day as far as public safety is concerned," Schnall said. "Both groups expressed themselves and were protected."

Troopers planned to monitor event participants during the Hammerfest, which ends today, Schnall said.

If he was a republican they would be so "outraged" they would be committing suicide on his doorstep

The dems are the party that has always done its best to destroy the minorities...........

And, OUR media are the ones that decide for the rest of the world what is "outrage worthy" and what is not
since their head is buried completely up the butt of the socialist party(the dems)THIS is NOT important
