Always used iron on AR... this is something new for me, and a little help would be great

I picked up the above scope used online for $100, it was cheap... and didn't think I could go wrong with it,  Is it good enough to use on my AR or is this a junk scope best suited for a Mini14?

I have both 1" and 1.5" high rings... which is better for a quick line-up using the standard flat-top as a mounting base?  Mainly using the setup for short distant shooting... up to 100yds., think the 5x will be enough power.

Also, I'm used to 10x+ scopes... would the 5x should be able to see through the front sight post right?

Thanks.

I bought one originally for my bushy,  I bought the rings from atn.  So in not exacly sure what size they are.  You will most likely need the taller rings.  AND or  a mount from bushmaster this is what i had to buy for mine link
