hi, we're about to buy a pellet stove but would like recommendations on brands and such. We want a standalone since it will be going in the basement. Our house is about 2300 sq ft finished so one that would heat that adequately would be good.

tia,

Chris

Reccomendation: DONT! You must have electricity to operate the feeder motor. Just get a good airtite! They will burn ANYTHING.

Quadra fires are nice.  I'm considering one for suplimental heat.

I have a genset and inverter for power outs... the feeders don't draw much and this is supplemental heat.

If you ever have a power outage....your woodburning pellet contraption will not work. That alone makes me want one. Not to mention the fact that you will be paying about 5 times as much per BTU with pellets.

I had a neighbor had one in MT. What a joke.
