Anti-war mother's speech cut short
New York police: Group lacked loudspeaker permit

Tuesday, September 20, 2005; Posted: 11:02 a.m. EDT (15:02 GMT)

NEW YORK (AP) -- Police cut short a speech by anti-war activist Cindy Sheehan and arrested a rally organizer, saying he hadn't obtained a permit for use of a loudspeaker.

Sheehan, whose 26-day vigil near President Bush's Texas ranch sparked anti-war protests around the country, had nearly finished her speech Monday when police intervened.

Supporters ushered her away from the rally at Manhattan's Union Square park as onlookers yelled at police and chanted "Let her speak!"

Rally organizer Paul Zulkowitz was charged with unauthorized use of a sound device and disorderly conduct. He was given a court summons and released, said Detective Kevin Czartoryski.

Sheehan, whose son was killed in Iraq last year, is calling for the immediate return of troops from the region. Her 25-state tour is set to culminate Saturday with an anti-war march in the nation's capital.

That woman said and did whatever she wanted in TX and nobody stopped her.  As soon as she mentions Hillary, they shut her down.  And yet the DUers will blame Bush for not allowing her to exercise her right to protest.

I love how slanted this article is. It makes this looney biotch sound like a respectable public figure that is being emulated across the country, and who is oppressed by the police.

Police cut short a speech by anti-war activist Cindy Sheehan and arrested a rally organizer, saying he hadn't obtained a permit for use of a loudspeaker.

They were "saying" there was no permit, as if this may not be true. Instead of saying the police stopped a criminal activity,a good thing, CNN says the police interrupted her speech, which is very rude.

Would anyone but CNN say that Sheehan's goofy ass really inspired a great number of anti-war protests? They make her sound like a hero, and then describe the police as rude thugs interrupting her heroic speech again.

Supporters ushered her away from the rally at Manhattan's Union Square park as onlookers yelled at police and chanted "Let her speak!"

Here they try to give the impression that the majority of people wanted her to speak, and loved her, and that the police were the bad guys again.

Wow, she almost sounds credible doesn't she? I wonder what her description will be IF they report about her demonstration against Hitlery.  This is CNN at their best folks. Blatantly slanted journalism to push an agenda. How can anyone with a brain take this seriously?

i don't think it's all that funny...she had almost finished her speech and the crowd of dungers were chanting to let her speak. the cops should have shut her down as soon as they heard the squawk, they should have arrested her as well as the organizer, and the crowd should have been chanting "eat shit sheehan, eat shit sheehan"...then i'd be roflmfao!

I could go on with several other examples of a biased media....but I won't, because I think you pretty much covered it with your post.

Leftists have such ridiculous mastubatory martyr fanatasies.  First they compared Cindy Sheehan to that Chinese guy who stood in front of Red tanks in Tieneman square, even though she was in absolutely no physical danger for "daring" to protest her own government.

Then they intentionally ignore permit laws to make it look like the government is trying to suppress their message.  It's absolutely pathetic.

 "Soft-Spoken" Cindy Sheehan

The Times keeps following Cindy Sheehan's anti-war parade as it winds through the New York City boroughs. But, as Shadi Rahimi reports Tuesday, the left-wing bandwagon hit a roadblock around 14th street in Manhattan in "An Antiwar Speech in Union Square Is Stopped by Police Citing Paperwork Rules."

That "paperwork" turned out to be a necessary permit for audio equipment the protest lacked: "An antiwar speech by Cindy Sheehan, the mother of an American soldier killed in Iraq, was cut short yesterday after the organizer of the event was arrested and police officers confiscated his audio equipment. The claps and cheers that had greeted Ms. Sheehan's arrival at the rally in Union Square quickly turned to furious chants of 'Let her speak!' as officers ushered away the organizer, Paul Zulkowitz, who the police said lacked audio permits for the event."

The Times lets the left-wing protesters give their own unlikely version of events: "But many people attending the event, dozens of whom yelled accusations into the faces of the more than 20 police officers who blocked them from following Mr. Zulkowitz, interpreted the arrest as a demonstration of citywide disdain for free speech, referring to last year's arrests of protesters at the Republican National Convention."

The Times relays more of the same "rock star" vibe it did on Monday: "The crowd of New Yorkers had waited more than an hour to catch a glimpse of Ms. Sheehan, who was thrust into the national spotlight in August when she sought a meeting with President Bush by camping out for days near his ranch in Crawford, Tex. Though soft-spoken, Ms. Sheehan has not shied away from controversy, opening her New York visit on Sunday night in Brooklyn by accusing Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton of failing to challenge the Bush administration's policies in Iraq."

Sheehan's hardly "soft-spoken," as her recent call to get U.S. troops out of "occupied New Orleans" indicates. But you wouldn't know that by reading the Times, which faithfully edits out her inflammatory comments on Israel and Bush.

Again the Times describes her comrades while not hinting at their left-wing nature: "Ms. Sheehan's message has been heard across the nation on television ads sponsored by antiwar groups and at well-publicized stops on her bus tour, which was launched from Crawford on Aug. 31 and has visited 51 cities in 28 states. She has been joined on her journey by families of soldiers and veterans, many of whom have been working for years to rally people against war."

As on Monday, one has to go to the New York Sun for less flattering details about the protest, such as the fact that protesters "pressed up against police officers and called them 'pigs,' 'fascists,' and 'Stalinists.'"

"sparked protests all over the country."

If they mean it has sparked a group of a dozen on the east coast, one on the west coast, and maybe a few in the middle, I guess they're right.

I've REALLY gone out of my way to avoid anything mentioning this nutty chick.  But, the Hillary comments in this thread have me intrigued.  What is the connection/friction between the two?  I'd appreciate a fill-in on this!

A few days ago at an anti-war meeting at a Brooklyn church, Sheehan demanded Hillary Clinton stop supporting the war or she'll be out of a job.  Rush talked about this on his show yesterday, he said "Cindy, do the words 'Ft. Marcy Park' mean anything to you?" (That was where the body of Vince Foster was discovered, for those of you in Rio Linda)

Went on to say that if Sheehan ever calls out or challenges Hillary Clinton about the war again, Sheehan can kiss any further attention from the mainstream media goodbye.

Why does almost every news article, TV report, radio blurb about her have to include this statement?  Are there that many dumbasses out there that still don't know who she is?  Enough already with her drivel, it's like a pity party everytime she is mentioned.

Fucking pathetic.
