Did not have to work last night so I had a decent night's sleep, did not have a chance to buy that handcrank radio, but I got about 500 rounds of .223 on my AR M4 Bushy with Aimpoint and I think that is all that counts, hadda good hot hot meal last night and some hot coffee now. Wind and rain picking up now but feels not as direct as Katrina. Flashlights got plenty, got food and water....hope for the best, but my days in Fl are numbered...

He's getting bands of rain and wind (see pic, a band should be right over him), but everything should be fine.

Another guy here in Miami, but I got a lot more ammo

700 Rounds .308
1000 Rounds AK
1000 Rounds AR
500 Rounds 30/06

A lot more than that in pistol ammo. If the SHTF we'll pick you up.

Tropical storm gusts at best. Can still knock out power though.

You know, the one thing that sticks with me from Frances & Jean is the wind. You hear about folks who are shell shocked from being under constant attack. When you listen to the wind howling for hours on end , it just nearly drives you insane. I could deal with the lack of power, the debris, the rain and all that but the hours of howling wind is the worst.

Stay safe.  If you are forced to shoot looters, we will need video for proof.

As of 1100 hours Rita is now Hurricane Rita, the 9th of 2005....this is a part of the storm I hate even though it has a WNW component we are now over the NE section of the hurricane, I think it s the worse part cause its like the tail end of a whip....

If looting breaks out, you're going to end up shooting a ton of Haitians. Don't worry about the Jamaicans, they'll be at home smoking plant life.

The NE quadrant of a hurricane is the worst because the forward speed of the storm is added to the (clockwise) circulating winds of the hurricane itself.  Best of luck to you and stay safe.

How true! Now try being in a TENT during that storm! Just ask your average Himalayan mountain climber what it's like to be trapped at 20 - 26,000 feet in a tent in a raging blizzard/windstorm with 100 mph winds for 8 days. That crap will drive you nucking futs!
