I don't remember where I read or heard about this, but I thought it was unconstitutional to use US military against US citzens.

Anyone know about this? Aren't National Guard US troops?

You are correct. That is why the US military refused to forcible remove citizens from NO.

Take it you have never heard of what happened to the "Bonus Marchers"?

(WWI verterans, slaughtered by US military and ran out of Washington DC back in the 30s)

FWIW, they are covered in detail in the early portion of John Ross's "Unintended Consequences".

United States Army troops were deployed to Chicago during the 1968 riots during the Democratic convention. I don't the legality (or illegality) of how that was authorized.

I was just informed by a friend in Lousiana that about 15 years ago some laws passed with little notice by anyone that when the Louisiana National Guard is activated for an emergency, they have the same power of search, arrest, etc, as LEO. They are considered LEO's during those times. And another law passed at the same time allows National Guard from other states to come in at the request of the Governor, and THOSE out of state National Guard have the same powers as Louisiana National Guard... that is, they have all the powers of LEO's.

Google 'posse comitatus'.

Requires an act of congress.

From and after the passage of this act it shall not be lawful to employ any part of the Army of the United States, as a posse comitatus, or otherwise, for the purpose of executing the laws, except in such cases and under such circumstances as such employment of said force may be expressly authorized by the Constitution or by act of Congress; and no money appropriated by this act shall be used to pay any of the expenses incurred in the employment of any troops in violation of this section And any person willfully violating the provisions of this section shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and on conviction thereof shall be punished by fine not exceeding ten thousand dollars or imprisonment not exceeding two years or by both such fine and imprisonment.

Is there really a difference between "regular" Army (.mil) troops and National Guard?

They train the same, get the same weapons, wear the same uniforms, and get deployed right along with "regulars" during wartime.

This shit is sickening.

The difference? The 2nd Amendment guarantees the Right of the NG to have guns. The Army isn't guaranteed guns.
