Now I'm hearing that they were armed contractors doing engineering work. And that none of them were killed.

Yeah, from the bit MSNBC had, sounds like it may WELL have been "the good guys" shooting OTHER "good guys"
 I hope no one was killed. That would suck. This is all I could find. Riley didn't go into much detail, but he says the shootings took place on a bridge which connects Lake Pontchartrain and the Mississippi River. |

Well, another "what if" scenario comes true...
I guess now they are breaking out the ninja gear. The Interdictor "Law enforcement have absolutely lost their minds. Some guy wearing khaki fatigues and black vests which say Police on them have their faces covered in black ski masks and are touting M4-A1s with front hand grips -- like they're some kind of Delta Force operators waiting to hit the tire house. They're guarding the four corners around the Bell South building for crying out loud. And what, they need secret identities? Come on. You can just tell some of these guys have never gotten out before. Now's their big chance to play Army." Please remember the guy posting this is ex-military (SF?) |

A spokesman for the Army Corps of Engineers said the victims were trying to shoot contractors on their way to repair a canal. The contractors were walking across a bridge on their way to launch barges into Lake Pontchartrain to fix the 17th Street Canal, said John Hall, a spokesman for the Corps. Earlier today, New Orleans Deputy Police Chief W.J. Riley said police shot at eight people, killing five or six. The shootings took place on the Danziger Bridge, which spans a canal connecting Lake Pontchartrain and the Mississippi River.
