actually this is the first time i have watched any tv news since 911. watched fox just to see the damage footage. i don't put much stock in any of them to give the correct story.

Other than what I get off the internet, it's the only news channel I can get in Malaysia. I came to these forums to make sure I hadn't gone completely insane.

What little TV I have watched about this has been CNN.

1. When I watched Fox they seemed more interested in politics/political discussion than actually covering the disaster.
2. CNN seemed to actually cover the Biloxi area, which I am more interested in then NO.

That said, I got 95% of my news on the topic off the web.

I prefer FNC, but CNN often has better live footage in the field for some reason.

You just have to hold your nose due to all the anti-govt, anti-bush spin that they spew.

Yesterday, Miles O'brien and Soledad whatever almost made me puke.

Today I saw some cool footage of a coast guard rescue underway - they tossed MREs and water to some people still in a school and rescued an old lady.

But I am back on FNC now.

I like Fox better, But I change the channel when Geraldo Rivera is on I can't stand the asshat.

I don't have cable or sat. TV. When I DO watch Foxnews or CNN, I pick whichever happens to have something interesting on.

Lately every single time I saw Foxnews, it was more of aruba girl.

Hows about a poll?

I watch FOX mostly, CNN when I'm bored with FOX, and lately have been checking out MSNBC to get a more diverse picture.

But I always keep this quote in mind when I watch or read any news media. . .

eta: [news rant on] What I really hate, is how the cable news channels have their evening news programs starting at 6pm,
then as the night passes, starting around 11pm they start to repeat the same shows & the same news until 5am... WTF![news rant off]

I've been trying to get the widest variety of video footage so I've been switching between FOX, CNN, and MSNBC.

Until yesterday, they all seemed to have slightly different video footage, however, as the National Guard and other armed forces began to arrive in force, I noticed that they all began showing almost the exact same videos.

My theory is that the all of the reporters moved from their previous and relatively safe locations to the evacuation areas to cover the air evac. Anyway, the footage seems very similar now, although I'm still switching around looking for more coverage of Mississippi and particualarly Hattiesburg (where my in laws live).

I'll also say that FOX news has been going downhill lately, IMO. The worst political bullshit that I have seen has been on MSNBC; they don't seem to be able to say three sentences without at least one jab at the administration,

BTW, I've spoken to my in laws and they were lucky in that all of the trees that fell missed their house. Since they were without power, they have relocated to Pensacola where they have a place to stay with water and power.

I watch it when Fox goes off-air, like last night when they just started replaying their previous hannity led show at 11, I switched down to try and get some live news. It just so happens that's when CNN broke the SCOTUS news which kinda is answer enough to your question. While FoxNews is the clear winner here and in american in general, competition is a good thing (so we do NEED other news channels) and sometimes, they are not first! They got CREAMED and caught WAY off guard last night.

Actually CNN has gone back to a "real" news format while Fox always seems to have three anchors jabbering amonst themselves.

Fox has less dummycrat spin.

I've been watching BBC, FOX and CNN The BBC has people on the ground along the Gulf coast, especially the Gulfport/Biloxi area who are giving very good coverage without partisan 'spin'…

I watch CNN because I don't get Fox on my basic satellite subscription and I really don't want to pay $100 extra per year just to get Fox News and a bunch of other shitty channels that I have zero interest in. I can better spend that money on ammo.

Besides, I only watch the news when there's something important taking place anyway. CNN works well for that. The past week has been one of the few times this whole year I've watched a significant amount of news.

CNN had far superior coverage on the ground for the first 3 days. Then came the political commentary and analysis, and they sank back to their old, leftist selves and Fox coverage got up to speed.

I go to Fox first. I've been looking for the video footage. As soon as any of these guys/gals opens their mouth, I go right back to King of the Hill. They all suck, Fox a weenie bit less.

I've watched more TV this week than all the rest of the summer. Maybe 6 hours total.

What a useless wasteland.

(If it weren't for the upcoming season of 24, and the prospect of Chloe wigging out, I would throw all my TV's in the trash)

obviously I voted FOX, but other nets have some good scope, e.g. TONS of resources at CNN worldwide for on-scene reporting.

Also watching GREAT peice on CNN headline news bout coast guard crews, talk about heroes, one maintenance guy seriously said he didn'tknow what day it was. he was not joking. he said he'd spent the last 6 days with the guy next to him, hadn't seen anyone else or been outside his hanger in days. Great story on teh heroes behind the heroes!

With major stories, I flip around just to see the different footage. Otherwise FOXNEWS 24/7.

IMHO all media is slanted. I watch everything and try to make up my own mind. Since I 'm not there witnessing what's going on I need to filter this stuff. I don't believe Fox news any more than I trust CNN, or MTV for that matter. In my eyes they're all equally worthless.

The only 3 channels I have on my "Favorites" button is: (in this order because of the channel they are on):

28: CNN
57: MSNBC
63: FOX

So when one goes to commercial, I can hit the "FAV" button, and no commercial, and that way, I can "figure out" what's real, as I know CNN will USUALLY "spin" it to the left, FOX will usually spin it to the "right" and MSNBC spins it a bit both ways depending upon the reporter/talking head.

ETA:But I voted for CNN, just because the female reporters/talking heads are a. More plentiful and b. cuter.

I had been watching CNN for NOLA coverage until today. They seemed to have better live coverage and less rerun footage than Fox. Just when I thought it was safe to watch CNN, Wolf Blunder and Tim Russert go on an America hating Socialist tirade.

I cant beleive you guys beleive what those stations say. I watch CBS and know that there was no katrina, the people in NO are perfectly fine. U.S. Military patrolling the streets? Ha ha ha it's all CGI.
