Profiteering?

Normally, there is a $0.20 difference between Regular and Premium here.

Regular just jumped to $3.19, but Premium just went up to $3.69

The only way I can figure it is that they boost the price of premium sky high and then run out of "regular" gas.

As someone pointed out to me--the gas that is in the tanks, on the trucks, etc. should pre-date Katrina, why the sudden price increases?

THe refineries only produce X% of permium, they have stopped producing X amount so they can produce diesel or low grade which is in higher demand or the ability to refine hightest has been damaged by the hurricane.

10 years ago regular was $.99 here and premium was $1.19. If regualr is $3.00 shouldn't premium still be 20% higher like it always has been ?  That would put it at $3.60 if regular was $3.00. Seems normal to me Gotta go air up the tires on my bicycle, later

Try pricing 100 octane low lead for an airplane, 52 gallons at a time.  Last week when I filled up it was at $3.40.  I hate to think what it must be at now.

are PA taxes like NY?
supposedly NY gas tax is a precentage, like normal sales tax, and not a set amount per gallon

Premium will be that.  It takes more effort to refine it and when refining is the bottleneck, you can believe there will be greater differential.
