Just saw a report on the Weather Channel, looters have been looting the Casino's all night long, LEO"s saw flashlights in and around the Casino's but could not find the looters. Money bags, machines etc have been torn apart of their contents. Someone (s) are looting thousands of dollars in change and bills. Wonder where they will cash it in?

According to some people at this site, everything's fair in love, war, and disaster.
LET THE LOOTING CONTINUE! IT'S FOR THE MASSES! |
Yep |
how stupid do you have to be to leave a casino full of money?
certainly they took most of it when they evacuated. |
hey, they're just thinking ahead. i'm sure they'll buy food with the money they stole. it's necessary to survive... |
+1 Yeah for all we know this money is needed to save a life or two. Or simply to better some ones life. |
They're just doing it for the "greater public good" don't you know.
The real problem here are the cowardly Governors who were afraid to declare Marshall Law and have the looters shot on site.
Find it hard to believe.......I'm sure the casinos took everything they could with them....and casino chips are specific to each casino usually.....they will just start a new series of chips when and if it ever reopens.....
Sadly I won several bets today. Bet there would be looting even while water was still filling NO. Of course, based on human nature I won. It was a bet I would have preferred to lose. When the SHTF a means of protection is a must. What the water does not get, [sounds as if it's going to get most of everything] looters will.
Yea, I would hope they have some serious vaults where the real money is located... The problem may well be the dammage these people are going to the machines... Given the money these casinos put into their local economy these low-lifes won't have the welfare to help them out when they discover their stollen chips are worthless!
From wat I've seen on the TV, there was a 28 ft storm surge in the casino area. I think it is safe to say all the electronic machines are shot. I can also say that the big money was long gone before the storms hit. I used to work in a casino, you'd be surprised how fast they move it |
the machines..there is no way they could unload all the Casino machines when they just hear that they ordered to mandatory evacuate. They probably locked the doors and cash within the Casinos thinking it would be there when they got back. Nope. The Casinos have been moved from the waterfront to dry land..windows are gone, doors are gone and there are a lot of people that are getting down to the shore. Maybe former employees who live there, dunno. |
My guess is the casino's will call their damage "total loss" and insurance rates will rise as a result. Not to mention all of the other damage. |
But it's for the children......
If I owned the casio, I'd either hire some trustworthy security types to stay in a freekin' boat in the casio and shoot anyone who enteres, or I'd do it myself.... |
I can tell you from experience the looting started the minute the evac was ordered, before the first raindrop fell. |
Casinos take money OUT OF local economies. see: Atlantic City / Wheeling / etc. etc. despite what fast Eddie Rendell (and all the casino operators & their bribes) says, you cannot gamble your way to prosperity. suckers bet. (Vegas' take saps money out of everywhere else - gambling is a non-wealth producing enterprise*) *except for the casino owners |

Just saw an older couple in Gulfport going through their home. THEY ARE PACKING!!!! The older man had a large revolver and grandma had a semi-auto pistol strapped to their hips!! Woo Hoo! Open carry during crisis by grandma and grandpa! Good to see.

Intellectual dishonesty at it's finest. |

Prove it. |

The looters see $$, their eyes turn green, then they start looting. I see expensive bait for prey...
That money would only have gotten wet and spoiled. Better someone gets some use out of it than let it go to waste.
Looting is the best part of any SHTF scenario! I'm from Detroit, so I know about these kinds of things.

If you've ever been in a casino late at night, a crew of about 20 guys goes around and removes the cash from (every machine?). They're pretty efficient and the casino COULD have removed all the cash from the machines. Thought they probably did leave some cash in their vaults.
Its conceivable that the casino barges sustained structural damage enough for someone to enter vault rooms. As far as casino chips or tokens.... Probably worthless. They can usually only be used at a certain casino. And you can bet when they rebuild they won't be using the same chips and tokens. On the other hand... A bunch of us Arfcom guys should go loot ourselves some machines and start our own casino. After all, we have been opressed by DU, we deserve that shit! |
Now alls we hafta do is wait for the dilweed looters to start asking around regarding "where they can cash in their tokens". LOL!
way cool.........granny's got a gun.. looters and raindeer beware... |
You have to be a fucking genius to steal bags full of coinage when you might have to swim home.

The posters in the other thread made the distinction between looting for personal gain and taking goods to be used for the common good. In this instance, it's only for personal gain. They also made the distinction between taking from a families supplies and a store. What's the difference? We aren't talking about taking food out of people's mouths. As was stated in the other thread, anything in the store would be not be allowed to be resold, in a couple of hours the good will probably be flooded out anyway, so the business owner is going to have to make a claim to either the insurance agency or the government not matter what. I would, of course, prefer they consult with the business owner first, and get his permission. However, that isn't really practical considering communications are out, and it would be impossible to find where the store owner/manager is staying. In this case, and the case of the cops taking flat screens and other crap, it meets none of the above criteria, so I say fuck 'em. |

As I mentioned in another similar topic, Governors have no powers to declare Martial Law. The US Consititution does address suspending Habeas Corpus in times of invasion or rebellion. But that requires an act by Congress. There is no provision that enables suspension by act(s) of Governors. Without the suspension of Habeas Corpus, no private property can be seized without due process. What you hear about being called Martial Law is not really. It is just a liberal use of the term that truely means military law for civilians during times of crisis. |

Looks like some looters also got $250,000 worth of firearms from a demolished pawn/firearms shop. At least that is what the guy on the colorful box of pictures said in my livingroom earlier, think it was MSNBC during Keith Oberman's show (I was only watching him because they had a helicopter fly all the way up the coast and showed like 25 minutes of footage in Gulfport/Biloxi). I wonder what kind of weapons they got ? That would be something the pawnshop owner should have evacuated with don't you think ?
That'd be something if they got some MG's |
Really? Who? Quotes? Inquireing minds would like to know. |

Sounds like a politician, +1 |

Watching FNC now and seeing people loot a grocery store and smiling for the camera. They all have one thing in common though.
Edit: I think I just seen a looter in the grocery store throw up a gang sign..lol! |
Glad I'm not the only one that was thinking that |
Whew! Me too.None of them were wearing any sort of rainsuit, and I thought it was kind of ...Odd |
I just saw one guy on FNC a few minutes ago, he had a cart full of Grape Chek Cola and Sugar Wafers. He's gonna rot his teeth out |

I cannot for the life of me understand the looting in New Orleans..where are they going to take it? Their homes will have to be demolished, I'd be wanting to get out of NOLA, not get a new t.v.??
What kind of person does this? Is it genetic? Rap music? What makes a person exhibit this type of behavior..they put monetary and things in front of their personal well-being? Why? |
It's all about the bling-bling, fo' shizzle. |
Yup, they can all gather together and check out thier fat new plasma, and pimp thier new kicks. |
You don't understand these people (the looters). They didn't purchase their homes, the govermnet gives them to them. They know the government will replace their homes ASAP. They really have nothing to worry about, and nothing else to do. |

Al Sharpton has just declared it is now "O.K." to loot.Sharpton was quoted as saying the reasons for the "Thumbs Up" on looting was because if the shop owners left it there,it meant "Dey don't want it no mo". Sharpton was seen leaving a sporting goods store with a new pair of Air Nikes giving a "Thumbs Up" on looting. More to follow. |
Sounds like the plot to Oceans 21 |
Some looters are running into problems that I've seen on T.V. Having to hold their low riding pants up with one hand while holding the loot in the other. Should have looted a belt
Here is something on Martial Law
BTW.. Were both wrong.. Link
Oh crap... It wasn't declared.
