Is it a bill for two months?  Did they get last months payment?

No, one month.  3,148 kwh vs last month of 1324.  Almost triple usage.  Ain't no fuckin way.

Have you checked the meter. Compair the meters numbers to the last number listed on the bill. If it is like my utility bill, if the numbers are way off call and complain.

Since the water and electric is on the same bill where i live, I received a bill for around 5 grand(heart attack stellllllaaaa i'm coming). After I got over the shock I looked at the numbers. Found they had charged me for 27000 gallons of water. I looked at the meter and the numbers did not match. Now I like to take showers but I'm not aquaman.

After complaining and telling them 'No I did not fill my olypic swimming pool otherwise the meter reader would be at the bottom'. They reread the meter and the total bill less than  178bucks.

Check your meter.

Lived in Mass..Highest bill was 105 for hot humid month of July.

No sympathy here in Texas..TXU has gone up 30% since deregulation.

My last bill was 368 !! with a 2300 sq ft house..

Friggin rediculous !!

Its prob because you have been running your AC  more then normal, or you had a new meter reader :)

A six pack says when you call them on monday, they are going to tell you they have been estimating for the last 3 months and finally did an actual reading.

Turn off the air conditioner.  Tape the electric bill over the thermostat.  See how long it takes to rip off the bill and turn on the AC again.

Do you have a central air conditioning unit?  If so get it checked out.  Sometimes they malfunction and the heat strips activate while you are running the AC.

eta Check for a hot water leak also.

It's been a hot summer in the midwest, and energy prices are up - big electric bills should not be a surprise.

The only thing that's going to be more ridiculous than my electric bill this month is my water bill for watering the fucking lawn.  Curse suburbia and neighbors that care about their lawns!!

You ever washed out your A/C unit? From the inside out? Get all the dirt, cottonwood fluff and and all the other crap out of the condenser? Try it, it can make a significant difference in the cooling ability of the unit.

That would be my guess.
My June bill was $7.00

I'm thinking they just might have been over
charging me previously.

Everything is going up.

I don't have central air, just a singke small window unit in the den. My electric bill was $141, that's about average without balanced billing. But, this is ND, we get maybe one month a year with over 90 temps, the rest is pretty temperate to "holyshititscold".

The heating bills, now THOSE are interesting.

I'm just shuttering at the thought of my fuel bill for my 88 Bronco during this upcoming hunting season.
