So whats yalls favorite country song? I have MANY favorites...including Bobby Pinson "Dont ask me how I know" and Ryan Shupe and the Rubberband "Dream Big"
I like the one where this guy sings about how his wife left him and his dog got run over by a car.
"Letters From Home" by John Michael Montgomery. I'm not big into country but I love that song.
"Corpus Christie Bay"
Robert Earl Keen. I have a tough time getting through that song without crying like a baby it hits so close. Mrs Goon usually gets me another beer at that point |
Country Boy Can Survive.
"I'd love to spit some Beechnut in that dudes eye and shoot em' with my ole 45" |
Whatever that song was that went:
"...like the button off my shirt, just an everyday distraction...." HH |
Hmmmm...got to be "Backside of thirty" by earl connelly. This was back when country music was for guys who had real problems.
We made a parody of that song for a guy from Hawaii in my unit. "An Island Boy Can Survive" I dont' remember much, becasue we were really drunk, but, I remember "I'd love to spit some poi into that boy's eye" Damn...I'm STILL laughing about that one. Glad I'm self entertaining |
Randy Travis--Diggin' Up Bones
Not the best song, but my sentimental favorite...it reminds me of car rides with my dad to little league, the lake, etc. |
Johnny Cash, either "The Ballad of Ira Hayes" or "The Long Black Veil."
Mud on the Tires by Brad Paisley for modern country.
Crazy by Patsy Cline for older country. Most new country is bullshit pop. I prefer the prior generation. |
probably jimmie rodgers singin " waiting for a train" and by the way hank sr. didn't sing " in the jailhouse now".
Seven Spanish Angels - Willie Nelson w/ Ray Charles

"Don't Take the Girl" - I'm not sure off the top of my head who it's by
"Chattahoochee" is another good one, if I even spelled that right. And of course, anything from fellow San Antonian (or Poteet-an??) George Strait. |
My 1st love was a cow named Sue - I screwed her, till my balls turned blue!
You know the sound that an AM
radio makes when you put it under a florescent light? Whichever country song playing on that radio when that happens is my favorite. |

I DON'T know but SURE hope someone can help me here (?)
I don't generally listen to country as a rule but, 24 yrs ago when I was at the Armor School at FT Knox there was this song they played at just about every meal in the messhall that I "Think" was by Micky Gilley(?). It was something to the effect that "...there's only one MonaLisa, one leaning tower of pisa, one Paris and there's only one you....",..Darn thing had a great melody but I can't find it anywhere. Anybody know what it's called or who the artist was? |

Cledus T Judd - My Cellmate Thinks I'm Sexy
Hi ho Silver, AWAY! After my show, thought I'd have a little fun. Hopped on a horse: Shorty sure could run. Well, I got a butt kickin, when the police finally caught me. ("Give me back my horse!!!") Not a moment too soon, Tim McGraw jumped in. Did his best Jackie Chan, caught a cop on the chin. Now I don't understand why they's arrestin' me, My cellmate thinks I'm sexy, I really turn him on. He's always staring at me, oh, when the guards are gone. I'm runnin out of cigarettes; he's askin me to dance. He says I'm lookin good in these orange pants. I really wish Tim McGraw was here to protect me. My cellmate thinks I'm sexy. I'd give anything to be back on my bus. I'm hidin' in my bunk, but he's climbin' on up. Swears all he wants me to do is sing him one of my songs. Says he's got a dream: I'm afraid of what it is. You're never gonna see me on a horse after this. I only get one call. I hope that Faith is home. My cellmate thinks I'm sexy, he just won't leave me alone. He's blowin' kisses at me, and I'm a'duckin' em all. I hate to break it to him, I'm in no mood for romance. What part of no don't this fool understand? I'm in big trouble if someone don't come and get me. My cellmate thinks I'm sexy. Well one day behind bars is long enough, 'Cos when I drop that show gold, man his eyes light up. My cellmate thinks I, My cellmate thinks I'm sexy, I really turn him on. My name is Kenny Chesney, this ain't where I belong. Me and Tim's in trouble, buddy, one thing is for sure,. George Strait's gonna kick us off his George Strait tour. I'd call Tracy Lawrence but he's in the next cell beside me. My cellmate thinks I'm sexy. My cellmate thinks I'm sexy. I had him from hello...hello...hello. What's Up!! Goodbye Squirrel Me and Harold Muffert were outdoors men Set in our backwoods ways Both members of the huntin' club Both active in the NRA (National Redneck Association) We scouted a location where we had no doubt We'd kill the biggest buck in the world (About a 34-pointer) Harold waited in his tree stand But all he seen was a squirrel Dang near two weeks since the season started And neither one of us was amused (HA HA HA) We had on real tree camo, high-powered ammo But no big game to shoot Then we finally saw a deer as big as a horse Harold had him in his crosshairs (Shoot him!) But that squirrel jumped off of a branch above us And landed in Harold's hair (Dang, get it out! Dang!) Harold fell off the stand, on his head he landed Like a wimp he laid there cryin Till I climbed on down, Picked him up off the ground And it didn't take us long to decide, That squirrel had to die Goodbye squirrel With black-eyed peas, You're gonna taste good to me Squirrel It's you or me, Come on out of that tree Squirrel Hey guess what, You've eaten your last nut Squirrel Me and Harold went down to the surplus store Bought a keg of dynamite Two baseball bats and a case of M-80s We were in for one heck of a fight (We'll show you!) When you're huntin' with dumb and dumber Something's surely bound to go wrong (Now be careful) And when Harold lit that real short fuse I knew it wouldn't be long When the dynamite blew, Harold's foot did too And fingers began to fly (Fly) We were barely alive When the game warden arrived And much to our surprise, That squirrel didn't die (Gosh!) Goodbye squirrel Just one more shot, You'll be in my crock pot Squirrel You'll make a lunch, You overgrown chipmunk Squirrel I'll skin ya hide, And make a hat when it's dry Squirrel (Deadgum Earl, Ronnie Milsap could shoot better than you Gimme that, I said gimme that gun Look out! Look out, duck! I think I killed somethin') |
I like Brad pAisley's music especially his new one "Alcohol".

The Dance
By Garth Brooks "Looking back on the memory of The dance we shared beneath the stars above For a moment all the world was right How could I have known you'd ever say goodbye And now I'm glad I didn't know The way it all would end the way it all would go Our lives are better left to chance I could have missed the pain But I'd of had to miss the dance Holding you I held everything For a moment wasn't I the king But if I'd only known how the king would fall Hey who's to say you know I might have changed it all And now I'm glad I didn't know The way it all would end the way it all would go Our lives are better left to chance I could have missed the pain But I'd of had to miss the dance Yes my life is better left to chance I could have missed the pain but I'd of had to miss the dance " and Face to Face by Alabama "Run your fingers through my hair and softly kiss my lips hold me close in your embrace and love me face to face face to face heart to heart body to body tingling tangle feelings lovers face to face I'll caress your body and hold you close to me I'll slide my hands around your waist and love you face to face face to face heart to heart body to body lips on lips arm and arm body to body tingling tangle feelings lovers face to face Softly say you love me as you make love to me no one else can take your place we happen face to face " |
Tim Mcgraw-Please remember me
kinda country-pop but a great song nonetheless |
At least Countrypop artists don't spend their free time mocking my beliefs and ideals, unlike just plain "Popular" artists in the top 40 I really like Toby Keith's "Who's your daddy?" |
Lots of awsome country songs but the one that gets me going especially when Iam pumping iron is achy breaky heart by Billy Ray Cyrus.

A Simple Man by Charlie Daniels
I ain't nothing but a simple man Call me a redneck, I reckon that I am But there's things goin' on that make me mad down to the core I have to work like a dog to make ends meet There's crooked politicians and crime in the street And I'm madder than hell and I ain't gonna take it no more We tell our kids to just say no And then some panty waist judge lets a drug dealer go And he slaps him on the wrist and he turns him back out on the town Well, if I had my way with people sellin' dope I'd take a big tall tree and a short piece of rope And hang 'em up high and let 'em swing till the sun goes down Chorus: Well you know what's wrong with the world today People done gone and put their Bibles away There livin' by law of the jungle not the law of the land Well the good book says it, so I know it's the truth An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth You'd better watch where you go And remember where you've been That's the way I see it I'm a simple man Now, I'm the kind of man that wouldn't harm a mouse But if I catch somebody breakin' in my house I've got a twelve gauge shotgun waitin' on the other side So don't go pushin' me against my will I don't want to have to fight you but I durn sure will So if you don't want trouble that you'd better just pass me on by As far as I'm concerned there ain't no excuse For the raping and the killing and the child abuse And I've got a way to put and end to all that mess You just take those rascals out in the swamp Put them on their knees and tie 'em to a stump And let the rattlers and the bugs and the alligators do the rest Chorus |
