If Hollywood has their way it will be P. Diddy, Adam Sandler or Jessica Simpson.
Nobody. I think it's time we retire Bond. In fact, I think we should have retired him BEFORE Brosnan. Leave a good thing along, don't run it into the ground.
If he were a little younger, I'd say Guy Pearce (I think he could have done a good job).
As it is, I think they'd be better off with someone who fits the "mold" but is relatively young and relatively unknown - Bond movies have never had to rely on "star-power" in the lead role. |
I say retire that franchise. Like Star Trek.
It has lived past its entertaining value. If anything I say get that jerk guy from American Idol or Carrot Top. Either will be fine. I may actually go watch it. |
I'm a big Hugh Jackman fan, see everything he's in... but I don't think he'd make a good Bond. Even if he did, he'd only be good for a few films. YMMV, of course. |
Hugh turned them down, actually. edit: Here's a link www.thehollywoodnews.com/article/16080505.php |

BUMMER! Had not heard that. Oh well I guess we will have to go with Moore! No not Roger. |
Sean Connery....A little make-up here and there, a little plastic surgery here and there, and Voila... |
I've got it!!!!
Bart Simpson! Since he never ages, they can just keep using him over and over and over again. That way they don't have to find a new actor every few movies. |
[SNL-Connery] So's your mother, Trebeck! [/SNL-Connery] |
Bond....Jamie Bond. Or a black woman. Shaniqua....Shaniqua Bond. That just sounds wrong. |
Oprah, wait, you said woman. DOH! ByteTheBullet (-: |
Clive Owen's got my vote. |
Well, I remember back in the '80s when there were serious discussions of letting Eddie Murphy take on the role... |
me too |
Diddy? Chris Rock? Will Smith? Or we could give Sean Connery another go and write roles for a real old James Bond |
I kinda liked Timmothy Dalton,WTH happened to him?
You guys think he was good? |
I think he is the guy who played the Professor in the Bourne Identity. He would be good. |
Yes. Second best Bond, after Connery. Moore sort of fucked the series in his last few, and Dalton was left to make up for it. A darker, more malevolent Bond, which returns to Connery's roots, is required. |
Yes! Instead of a PPK he can carry a .44! I really think they need to stem off of the old Bond franchise and we need a less classy American spy that works for the CIA. He can be a redneckish character or something to the extent of Dirty Harry-esque character or something along those lines. I've gotten sick of James Bond, the snooty character and the shallow, repetitive plots. |
They tried that with xXx. Well. Punkish character. |
Famous Bond lines if Oprah was the new 007... "Green figs, yoghurt, coffee very black, 3 omelettes, extra cheese, sausage gravy, biscuits, two chickens, fried, one turkey leg, two dozen donuts, a box of chocolates, Godiva, very large, Cheez Whiz and a diet coke..." "You know I'd never even look at another breakfast buffet" "Do you expect me to talk?" "Noooooooo, Ms. Bond, I expect you to dine!" |
+1 for Christian Bale. Hell, the 2 best Bonds have been a Scotsman and an Irishman, might as well let the other leg of the Celtic triangle have a go!
Plaid Cymru! |
Wow! I thought I was the ONLY one who felt that way. Nice to know there are at least three of us... |
Collin Ferrell (sp?)
He was cool in American Outlaws, so I have liked him ever since. |
For some reason Dalton has always been maligned. I like him as well. Definately an edgier Bond. FWIW, I think Roger Moore was by far the worst. |
Timothy Dalton sucked ass. There is a reason why his tenure as Bond was so short.....HE SUCKED. +another for Clive Owen. That guy was funny as hell in "Closer." |
Or he could tell You might be a redneck jokes till the culprit just dies of boredom |
Roger Moore started out good and represented Bond to a new generation. However, Moore fucked the series in his last few movies and Dalton suffered for it. By the time Dalton got there, people already stopped going to Bond movies. |

I would have thought so too, but... www.unc.edu/~apwebb/inls102/Assignment_5.html (Yes, I can see that it's a school assignement and no, I didn't go to IMDB and verify the figures or check the math...) A View to a Kill (1985, the last Roger Moore 007 film) made $152,400,000 worldwide ($260,043,122.68, scaled to 2003 USD) compared to The Living Daylights (1987, Timothy Dalton's first Bond flick) at $191,200,000 worldwide (or $309,016,901.41, similarly scaled). There was a significant dip from Dalton's first movie to his second (and last), so I can see why folks blamed him for hurting the franchise. (But I still thought he was great and very true to the books' descriptions IMO.) It took back off big-time with Brosnan (whom I didn't care for at first, but he grew on me...). |

I read an article a while back in which the author thought that Denzel Washington should be the next Bond, because he was the only current male actor in Hollywood with Connery's charisma. I have to admit, if ever there was to be a black Bond, Denzel should play him. |
I dunno, but did you see Jill St John last nite in Diamonds are Forever on AMC. She was so ummm squeezable. Whatever happened to her?
M4-AK |
too short...plus he's another Mick, and we've had our shot. |
Isn't she still getting hammered into the mattress by Robert Wagner? |
Moving on...Clive has my vote still. |
Evere since I saw his pecker in Alexander, I have not liked him. |
