I have a totally stock mini 14 ranch rifle. It has the synthetic black stock and stainless/silver barrel and reciever. What color scope do you think I should put on it. Black or silver??? Also, Are there any good accessories out there for this rifle.

Because I owned one. Stainless with synthetic stock and 5 round mag.

It was a nice shooter, 5 rounds at a time. Nowhere near as accurate as an AR.
Mag availability over 5 rounds was depressing. Ten round mags worked OK.
20 and 30 round non-Ruger mags sucked ass!

I put around 2K rounds through it and sold it.

IMO, a POS. If you disagree, fine. I don't miss that thing one bit.

That's about the size of it.

I have had a couple and they were nice little rifles.  I got my ARs and sold the Minis because I needed some bucks.  It is that simple.

There is one in there. I love my Mini 14. Shooting is like killing two birds with one stone (bullet plus the ejected shell).

The stainless steel ones on mine (above) work perfectly. You just gotta buy the right kind. I have had 40 rounders that do not work at all. I wouldnt say it sucks because of its magazine availiablilty. Accuracy is like an AK, but reliabiltiy (based mostly on mags) is poor. I love how simple this little gun is.

Mini 14 is to a M1A as a R/C helicopter is to the F/A-22 Raptor.

A rifle is only as good as it's mags.

Shitty mags make it a $700+ 5 rd semi with 'minute of dinner plate' accuracy.

What makes it a GOOD rifle?

I agree about the mag issue, its even worst for Mini-30s, but I don't know where you are finding $700.00 minis.

I have a mini-14 its not in working coniditon my fault, but it's a very handy little rifle, it's tough and goes forever with out any problems. Not the most accurate rifle but unless your shooting something smaller than a gopher it is just fine.

It's just a tough cheap rifle, I mean go find something better at $500

Was told at Ruger that "GB" stands for grenade launcher, bayonet.  I've one of those myself with a folder.  Unfortunately, it was moved to NV so I didn't have to register it (and all the black rifles).
