A new record has been made. A built motor, 4.3L v6 with ported heads, wicked cam, homemade intake and turbo kit  just made 587rwhp and 601rwtq at 27psi. He went a little lean, so he turned it down to 24psi and ran 577rwhp and 580rwtq. That is where he is leaving it. This is all in a 95 stang with a cage, and he is installing a built C4 tranny to run 10s at the track, if not 9s.

wow.

Please dont come in here and bash.

There's nothing wrong with V-6s. You won't hear me bash them. My first car was a 1975 Mustang II with a 2.8L V-6. Loved that car. Bought it in 1985 and put it on the road in 1986. Had it ten years. Four speed on the floor. Hatchback.

That is pretty nice, although I believe that there is a guy with a 100% daily driver Dodge Spirit that is putting out over 500HP with only 4 cyls.

Doing the same (or similar) mods to a 4.6 would obviously have more output, but that's an impressive increase! The lighter weight is an advantage too. Cool.

A 4.6  would make 1000hp with that turbo, but the V6 guy probably pays next to nothing for insurance.

My wife ( girlfriend at the time ) had a '77 Pinto with the 2.8L V6...   I used to eat 4-banger Fieros up all weekend long up and down Summer Ave.

Nothing more embarrassing to get your brand new Fiero beat by a Pinto

Heat soak is going to be a bitch with that intake assembly......

I assume he is running an intercooler?  If so, is he having problems keeping the charge air temps down?

That big metal thing on the drivers side is the water/air intercooler. The tank is in the truck to use with dry ice.

Ohhhhhh.......

Ok.

I didn't see plumbing coming in from down low....that would explain it.

With all the jack spent on that block, wouldn't he have been a lot better off just going with a bigger engine in the first place?

Its a passion for the V6 that we have that keeps us from buying a V8. Plus, he doesnt have more than about 5k in the engine.

Very impressive considering that the motor only made 145 hp stock.  Oh and a 95 gt would have a 5.0 in it not a 4.6.

I will have to agree with you on this one. Just look at the Buick Grand National or GNX!!! I would love to have a GNX!

ETA: I assume Black is Torque, Red Is HP, but what are the green and blue lines?

Green would be speed in MPH, and Blue was engine rpms

Very impressive.

Honda has done wonders with small motors for years.

It's a good thing you posted a pic of the dyno results, because I'd have never believed it looking at those pics! Pretty sweet.

Bah, BMW took a 1.4 liter engine and made at least 1400 hp out of it.  I say at least, because that was all the dyno would do.

Naturally, they wouldn't sell it to me, bastards.

im a v8 guy myself mostly bigblocks, my last one was 804rwhp with a 300 shot of juice. but i have to say thats a good amount of power for 5k bucks. i had more than that in my heads. so.... ROCK ON LITTLE V6!!!!!!

Not bashing, just iterating a lesson learned from years of hot rodding.

You can't beat cubic inches.  You can build horsepower cheaper, if you start with a better foundation.

After totaling a truck with a $5000 full roller motor, I prefer to build horsepower as cheap and simple as possible.  It leaves more money for ammo.

Ive taken mine to the dyno a few times(95 Eclipse GST) Use it as my daily driver at 348whp at 15psi and 93octane.  Has done 367whp on rough tuning at 19psi and 93octane.  Can do 25psi on 101+octane for around 450whp.  Add an extra 20ish% to get crank horsepower.  Thats only out of 4 cylinders and dare I say JAPANESE.

Of course, guys have been squeezing 750hp out of street legal Grand Nationals and well over 1000hp on track cars with the old GM 3.8 liter engines.

That having been said, how much will those modifications set back a Mustang owner?

Grand National guy get the luxury of billet aftermarket cranks and billet blocks, and more of a performance oriented aftermarket. The Ford 3.8 is a very similar engine, but we have to make do with a stock block and crank.

True dat. No doubt the 567rwhp is a feat out of the 4.3. The question still stands, though... how much change does making that kind of power take, out of curiosity? I remember that in '93 the GT could be pumped up to 500 hp at the crank for less than 29k all told...not too shabby...

About 7k for a custom built and blue printed motor from ]www.supersixmotorsports.com[/ur].  That will net you around 385 hp and 385 lb/ft of torque.  Where you take that motor is up to you.

I have a 2005 mustang with the 4.0 v6. My insurance is still high, Im 24 with 3 speeding tickets, and the insurance on the gt would be more then I wanted to pay.  After I get more then 32k miles, I will tune, but I have 4500 on it now.

Actually, most of the GN guys have been using the 4.1L combo for the big power. They also benefit from development of an engine that was being turbo'd since 1982 IIRC.

Or the MKIV Toyota Supra. My bestfriends car just laid down 642rwhp at 16psi on pump gas. They estimate it will make 880+@28psi.

Those numbers are impressive.However,24psi/turbo I figure why bother.Guys are making that kind of power on the stock Eaton m112 and bolt ons with the 03/04 Cobras.

To each their own.
