Ok we drink alot of beer, cans thrown everywhere a big waste in my opinion a case of coors will cost you like 15 bucks!

A pony keg costs what maybe 20 and i have access to them and could get a good deal.

So why not build a keggerator and have a keg in my house i think we figured it out a pony keg has 7 gallons of beer, thats a great deal for 20 bucks!

Get a raidiator or something similar., put that in ice water. the beer goes in warm comes out ice cold.

Buy a refrigerator and modify it? It's not hard at all. Get an electric tap and just drill for all your tubes and wires and insulate around them.

We put one under the bar of my drummer's house. It works well.

My friends made a double out of a large freezer. It was cheaper but I guess they could never leave it on because it would freeze. Keep in mind you need special gasses for some beers.

If you didn't plan on drinking the keg within a day or two, this is a good point, because you wouldn't want it to go flat. $100 deposit on a CO2 tank plus whatever a fill is and you're in business with a keg that will last longer for beer drinking goodness.

thats the cool part the C02 tank and keg i could all get without a deposit! and if i need a refill no problem.

Use a C02 system instead of an air pump, so the beer will last alot longer. Also, a jockey box might be a cheaper alternative to a keggerator, plus it portable. My former roommate had one and we used to take it camping almost every weekend. Just add ice (about 1/2 bag) and you have cold beer!

I keep a 1/2 keg in my fridge (it's a commercial-quality glass sliding-door Coke refrigerator that someone gave to me). It's definitely better tasting and cheaper to keep stocked. I swap mine out about every 6 weeks ($70 for Miller Lite, Killian's Red or $100 for Amstel Lite, Guiness, Fosters, Pale Ale, microbrews, etc.).

I don't have a CO2 unit on mine - I figure the least I can do to burn off calories is pump the thing a few times every time I pour a beer. Basically I have all I want to drink straight from a keg for ~$15/week. It doesn't last quite as long in the summer when everybody comes over and hangs out at the pool (about 50' from the keg), but it's still cheaper than buying cans!

I'll see if I can find a picture of mine. When I hosted some classes here in the summer, we all wrapped our bulletproof vests around it on breaks to cool them off. Of course it turned into some internet legend about how we'd rather protect the keg than ourselves, which was pretty funny....

We had three full size fridges with kegs in them. COs bottles all over the place. When we ran out the low man would be sent to the basement to change the kegs. It was truly cool and amazing to have beer at will.

A few of the bottles were modified with a siphon to power our paintball canisters.

Are there any ways to chill the lines if I want to have the tap be mounted on a surface other than the front of the fridge? Like on a wood bar? Some of my buddies in college had one, but they'd end up dumping a pint or two of room-temperature beer before they'd get to the cold stuff when they started drinking for the day.

A fridge-mount might be more practical (no loss due to warm lines), but doesnt have the style of bar-mounted.

Any ideas on how to decorate the fridge so its not a giant white fridge in the middle of a rec room?
