This just makes me depressed.

I'll be lucky to even look at a G36 through glass... Let alone hold one, fire it, or own it.

Doesn't it suck to know you'll never get something? Like a G36... Cameron Diaz's pie...

I'm going to go cry in the corner now.

Are you capitol police?

Aren't you guys big into the HK guns?

Why the switch over to M4s? Not enough G36s?

Thanks

A friend of mine Phil Strader (US Capitol Police markmanship instructor) a few months ago told me that had trouble keeping the G36 zeroed with the Aimpoints.  I don't know if they've fixed this problem.  He owns a gunstore in Woodbridge VA too.

And if the DoD had 2¢ of brains they would buy the standard G36 off the shelf instead of spending gazillions on the 'gaygun' XM8 version.

HK G36 is 99% certain to replace the SA80 in British Army service in the not too distant future…

I shoot IDPA at his shop and with him when he's there and yep he makes it look so easy, Its just friggin' amazing how fast and accurate he is.  If you didn't know better you would think he was shooting a Glock 18 and he's even faster watching him shoot USPSA.

To be honest they pay so much you cant complain. I come from a small sheriffs dept. in West Virginia and have pretty much tripled my pay for doing the same work. Alot of traveling though. Just don't approve of all the politics.

Sure, They don't approve of us looking to military so they only permit issuing so many and what locations like to photo if you notice is the upper terrace of the capitol you will always see them there but thats about it. During alerts we have to argue to get them placed in more stratigic area's.

If so, it might be produced there. I don't know, could be done in Oberndorf also, I would think.

BAe/Royal Ordinance sold off HK back to Germany, but still retain a stake.

The contracts would be with Oberndorf , all the upgrades to the SA80 were carried out by HK there as well.

The current issue G36's are german build. They are used by the Police and the SAS and have a good reputation…

Thats special.

What does that officer like about it other than its issued to him?

Did he have a choice in that matter or is that HIS preference?

Or are we just drawing our own cute little conclusions based on a photo?

Lumpy may seem harsh but he's right. That's a picture of a US Captiol P.O. with a G-36 - period. His like or dislike of said weapon cannot be determined from the image alone.

Hey, I'm not complaining about anything. I'm only clarifying what Lumpy stated. But, now that you mention it, the title you chose for your post is a wee bit misleading. I was expecting a bit more than just a picture like perhaps a news story or an excerpt from a article. I'm a bit disappointed.
