A more interesting race there in Louisiana... a young fellow named Bobby Jindal, of Indian decent (as in India, not native American), held a high position in the previous Republican administration, don't know exactly what he did, but was a said to be a good performer under the previous Republican governor.  He ran for governor of Louisiana last year, a young Republican against a very experienced woman Dem, Kathleen Blanco.  Louisiana was a very strong old fashioned southern Dem state, but Jindal lost only 49%-51% to the Dem candidate.

Naturally people in India were carefully watching that race, the possibility of one of theirs winning a governorship in the USA was amazing to them.  There was tears when he lost, but for him to get 49% was outstanding, esp for where he was running.  Also, he had no political experience, never ran for an office, and to do that well against an entrenched Dem.

Well, young Bobby Jindal ran for the House in LA, and won his seat.

So, in a few years, he will have some political experience under his belt, a few more years of age, some politica saavy, and I think if he runs for gov again, he will kick ass.
