Ummm....how does it appear that way? Did it ever occur to you that some of us don't feel the need to constantly beat our political chests about our expolits as junior republican truth-seekers in our younger days? I DID argue the truth with the old geezer. Didn't see how that was relevant here.

Give me some credit, and I'll give you some.

Because you claim the class was worthless.  Did you learn about the branches of government and their functions?  Did you learn about the electoral college?  Regardless of your teacher's political slant, these basic structures are non-partisan and ARE worthwhile to learn about.  You were trying to refute my statement that there IS a class where we have the opportunity to learn how our government works and I was responding in turn.

If you don't see the relevance in being pro-active in your own education then I think that says it all.

I just know you're trying to make a point here...but I fail to see it. Yes, the class was virtually worthless, as it was comprised primarily of political rants, not nuts-and-bolts political stucture of our country lessons. I did enjoy watching the movies we watched...Glory, with Morgan Freeman, comes to mind.

And, for the record, I was an independent leaning towards Democrat in those days.

Nobody's perfect....and not all democratic ideas are bad. I like some of them myself.....some of them. I imagine we'd be surprised if we compared ourselves point-for-point. I may be more left-wing than you.

I'm not denying you credit.. in fact, I'd say YOU are the one who is taking this incredibly personal.

Nothing personal here. But it *does* seem as if you and I don't always agree...and we end up debating in a manner that would make Dale Carnegie blush. Why, pray tell, is that? Is there a reason that you and I can't get along? What about the other chauvanists on the board? Do we have a conspiracy to antagonize you, and not the rest of the ladies here? Surely not. Of course, I could be wrong.

Again... I haven't gotten any fact-based rebuttals from you.  They've all been rather... well... emotional.....

That's debatable. Not to mention inflammatory. You have a nice day, my dear lady. I'll be working on that reply now. As I said, it will take a while. I *DO* have work to do.

Another "Christian" bringing home the hypocrite award!

Doesn't it say in the Bible WE are all equal? That means MAN AND WOMAN. SO if you think you are allowed to vote, then you must believe women are allowed if you really believe in the bible?

But I guess you one of the may Christians that use the bible in ways that work out just they way they want it for them.

Did it ever occur to you that at some point in my life, I have endorsed, if not participated in, pretty much every sin that I now recognize as such? The Bible says what it says. What I think about it doesn't change it. My standing behind it is not a matter of hiding.......actually, it's ANYTHING but that.

When we have a thread about masturbation or porn or drinking or drug use or any one of 100 other vices, did it ever occur to anyone that my beliefs are what they are IN SPITE OF my personal desires, not BECAUSE of them?

*sigh*

I'm telling Laura Bush what you said!!!  Then you can explain to 'Dubya' how you got it from the Bible. (Which was compiled by Men)

Since women have cast between 4 million and 8 million more votes than men in recent elections, I think we have our responsibility well in hand.  You just make sure you hold up your end.

ETA: You are sooo crossed off my X-mass card list!

And it's Christmas, not X-mas.

You admitting what your doing is a sin doesn't excuse your behavior. Don't try to pull another ETH. .

Quit twisting what I said.

My earlier posts still stands on its own.

If you have nothing better to add, post in someone else's thread.

Arowneragain, is there a clear reason why you're not in any sort of "relationship" with a woman?

If not, go back and re-read some of your posts.  You don't stand much of a chance.

Wow. Such clearly thought out, well-reasoned replies.

You guys are hilarious.

Ok, how about we just don't let fat broads vote. They're probably on welfare anyway. Only babes. Intelligent women tend to keep themselves up better and probably have more valuable input and therefore are qualified to vote. Plus slim women only would help keep the poliing places more serious in appearance and less like a Kerry rally or a union picket line.

I dunno. I think we should only let the fat ones vote. or maybe only the brunettes.

I wonder if anyone bothered to read the original post, and answer the original question?

Thank you all for your attention.

And yes, Miss_Magnum, I owe you a reply.

Until I can give the matter proper attention, consider this:

1 Corinthians

1 Cor 14:34 Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience as also saith the law.

1 Cor 14:35 And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church.

Next, consider this.......

Were men in the era before women's suffrage lesser for their views on women's suffrage?

Did we as a society grow during the early 1900's?

Now, would someone please be so kind as to answer the original question?

Never said it was written by men...I said COMPILED.  Different meaning altogether.  Yes, I used Xmas instead of Christmas...because everyone in the free world understands that the holiday being celebrated today isn't a celebration of Christ anymore.  (EVERY DAY should be celebrated) It is a celebration of consumerism.  Biblical scholars have even disputed the date of 25 Dec as the birthdate of Christ and have speculated that they compromised the date to coincide with pagan holidays.

While you're at it, look up the biblical description of a good woman in Prov 31, verse 16:  She considers a field and buys it;  out of her earnings she plants a vinyard.  (this means LAND OWNERSHIP, and by previous arguments, equates into a qualification to vote to ensure her land is properly used)

Just curious...how do you feel about blacks right to vote?

I never said I had anything against anyone owning land. Nothing at all. And I certainly have nothing against blacks voting. I resent the implication.

Would someone now please go and read my original post? Especially this part.......

This is based upon my understanding of the difference in the roles to be carried out in life by men and women, as derived from my understanding of the Bible and its teachings. For what it's worth, it's not one of my stronger beliefs. I probably haven't yet properly pondered the matter.

Miss_Magnum,

Why don't you do me a favor and enlighten me on what God's Word says about such matters. See, that way, instead of me defending my archaic beliefs, maybe you can enlighten me.

(seriously!)

The answer is yes, every citizen has the responsibility to vote.

My questions, what circumstances?

Who decides my perfect world?

Do you think this applies to a woman if her husband is leading her in the "wrong" direction?  Everyone uses that verse to say that women need to submit to their husbands, but if your husband was telling you to kill someone does that mean to submit?, what about husband telling you to steal?, etc.  What if your husband told you to vote for Kerry?  Do you have to remain silent and do what he says?

Also I have heard this verse been interpreted as basically instead of leaning over and gabbing to your friend about something you may have not understood, wait until you get home and ask your husband.

Touchy subject, I guess.

If the wife feels led in the wrong direction, I certainly don't see why she couldn't discuss the issue w/ a pastor or someone else she trusts.

There are a gazillion 'what if' scenarios you could pull from this.

I'll say this much......

If I lead someone else to do something wrong, as you hypothesize above, I do believe that I will be held responsible for it.
