Only "nearly decapatated" him?  Must have rolled about a 17 for the hit, the victim's AC must have been low, and he rolled high for the damage. If he had rolled a 20 it probably would have come clean off.

Once again I'm impressed.

Actually, with swords, isn't it usually a 19 or 20 for a critical hit?

Man I miss playing with the guys.  We had so much fun making jokes out of scenarios.  What was cool was that one guy's wife always wanted to play and sometimes included her sister too.

I don't think self-defense applies when you've been bullying someone enough that they make a sword to kill you with.

Say, I wonder what will happen to this guy in jail? You can be sure he's going to get ass-rapedbullied there. Is he gonna make some shivs? Will he deter anyone by saying "He was messing with me, so I made a sword and cut his fucking head off!"?

I've been laughing so hard there are tears in my eyes. That first line just killed me. I'm trying to imagine the thought process that led him to the conclusion that he should make a sword and kill this guy for bullying him.

I got dibs on the Paladin. I'm good at being an annoying, party-pooping asshole.

Then again, most of mine were more Sparhawk that they were Sturm Brightblade.

I'd definitely want to learn to smith swords... but you can't really do that at a machine shop.  Sure, you could make a flat, sharp peice of metal that looks like a sword, but there's much more that goes into forging one.

Versus Intelligence.  The D100 roll must be equal or higher to his base 3D6 Intelligence roll plus the -3 from the Cursed Sword's influence.

OK you animals, lets be realistic here.

He obviously successfully made his weaponcraft roll and we know one thing for sure, the sword wasn't vorpal.

Also, I don't think this should be taken as a critical.  Remember that the victim is just a common NPC, for all intents and purposes, which means 1-6 HP.  Any hit could have brought him down... lets not give our chaotic evil friend here too much credit.

Even rolling with short sword damage, 1d6, the guy could have been taken down without a crit.

Homemade longsword... what are we talking, (1d8 - 1)?  Plus he was a steel worker... he could have had some major strength bonuses.  This wasn't an amazing feat.

We didn't do anything nearly so kinky.  We did have a thief that kept stealing from the prissy female bard in the party.  The thief used the bards best clothes for flamable material against a foe we'd lit on fire.

I had a dwarf that was known, in furious melee, to tackle badguys and headbut them to death with his helmeted head.

Anyone remember the "Dead Ale Wives "comedy troupe? They did a spoof on D&D. Actually pretty damn accurate.

Check this out, gonna need flash
8 bit d&d
its in 8-bit graphics (means character graphics are crappy) if you dont like the graphics, just close your eyes and listen to it.

Also does anyone watch Reno 911? Every once in a while they have to bust some nerdy DM because he attacked one of his players?

Seriously I don't think you guys wanna play with me... I was sorta good at manipulating the rules to my advantage.

Tiamat was my familiar.

Irregardless 2nd Edition would probably be the way to go.

1st Edition characters were largely realistic, representations of human characters in a fantasy setting... 2nd Edition went towards a bitter Conan the Barbarian style archetypes where power could be attained but often at great cost... 3rd edition is basically just "Xena Warrior Princess" characters.
