Some of those building are awesome and beautiful. Too bad they are being burned, gutted and neglected. I can't help but think how great some of them would be as brewpubs or b&b's.

Sorry guys, the fact is that most of Detroit looks like this. I lived there my whole life and now live in the suburbs.
It is also a fact that when Coleman Young took office and practiced his racist policies that many whites left and this is what the result is. Sad but an undeniable fact. It isn't racist propaganda when it is absolutely true. It was a beautiful city at one time. I wish I could have seen it then. Whenever I go there I am amazed at how beautiful many of the houses and buildings are. Even the huge auto plants, some with millions of square feet of space, from the fifties. It has been ruined by the low class scum that now inhabit it(whites included). I was down there today, on Woodward near the DIA, and it just chokes me up to see some of the history there that is now gutted and graffitied with crack-whores on every corner. That happened on racist blacks' watch, not ours. Before you even start calling me a racist for stating facts, know that my step-father, who I love dearly, is African-American and so is my brother. |

Look at Africa, and look at Europe. Look at Detroit pre-1960, and look at it now. Blacks are not a very industrious race. Dutch people are. Japanese are. Arabs like war. It's not racism. It's a scientific observation based on real life fact.
I'm not saying every arab is a bloodthirsty martyr or every black is lazy trash or every white is a innovative hard worker. But when you put a whole bunch of whichever particular race together and let them multiply for a few generations, certain trends tend to surface. I welcome all races into my neighborhood, as long as they are good neighbors. I don't welcome thieves or vandals or thugs, no matter what race. The vast majority of these just happen to be non-white. It's not my fault they are and it doesn't make me a racist. |
