Okay, did you really tell them off like that? You get more flies with honey than vinegar, you know. I'm a democrat, and when they come begging for money I politely tell them I won't vote for Kerry because of the gun issue.  Well, in truth it's more than that, but you get the point.  I've had some real good conversations on the issue. Don't know if I won anyone over but at least I get 'em thinking.

(The paranoid among you may admonish me for revealing to strangers that I own guns.  I always tell them that "back home" I have guns, but I don't have any here in MD because of the restrictive laws. Yes! I am as paranoid as you...)

You should invite them in and keep them talking as long as absolutely possible. Sound agreeable but waivering. As long as they're talking to you, they're not out swaying anybody else.
