A "Member Since" date any earlier than 11/19/2000?
I remember some of the names and seems no-one I remember has an earlier date than that. Are you one of the originals???? Railgun...11/19/2000.... |
Hey I resemble that remark!!! ( I should be a dues paying member - mental note to self)
( since 1998 or 1999 - whenever the board was oh so tiny ) |
You probably won't believe this but the CHECK IS IN THE MAIL, and to prove this I will bring this back when the status changes. Hopefully Juan will be quick to activate once the check clears. Railgun.... |

Nobody has an earlier date because that is when the new board came online. Before that it was the "old" ar15.com. I've been around here since 1997.
Yea, I was here before that too. . . . |
Freeloader. |

<----- I am a few months to a few years off from you guys....
May 2001 |
Here for 3 1/2 years and under 900 posts? SLACKER!!!! |
Well I DID pony up for the LEGP in 2001 with lots of extras, if that counts for anything.... Railgun.... |

12/99(lurked for a couple of months before that),
Five years (almost) and a thousand posts (almost). Most of my posts have come in the last 4 months. If I keep this up I AM buying a membership. |
Yeap, board change-over. I forget when I originally registered.

Day one of the new and the old. I had a couple of thousand posts back on the old board too.
I've been moderating the General Discussion forever, late in 2000 IIRC. |
I wonder if anyone has a screen grab from back before the board change. I can't wait to go through the archives when my membership upgrade is approved.
Railgun.... |
Old Board |
You'd better get used to waiting. |
Well that didn't work exactly as you pasted but upon further edit....THATS the old board! Thanks! Railgun.... |

I remember belonging to an AR15 e-mail newsgroup long ago around 1996/97. I believe it was associated with this site. I was also on an M14/M1A list as well.
I have been going to this site off and on since at least 1997, when I bought my first few guns. |
I've been around a lil while, but not near as long as some of you guys...
I originally joined when I was having problems with a Hesse AR15 and needed advice... The next one I had trouble with was a Professional Ordnance Carbon-15... Imagine that. I did have a membership for a year, but it expired this Summer. I don't spend near as much time here anymore, and couldn't justify spending the $60. (When my renewal was due, the site was having all kinds of problems.) I've since been considering sending in another 60 bux after seeing how much better the site has been the last few months... |
I was lurking on the old board, I think since early 99. Always has been lots of interesting stuff on here.

Yup, all original (11/19/2000), and was a member of the old ARFCOM board before here. Makes me.......better?
I wish I could have been here back then, you guys are very funny.
I guess I was the only one that knew Sarge secretly loves cats? Nobody else was able to figure it out? |
Ahh the old board. Remember when this board was in Beta and on port 8888? Then the old board gave up and we all migrated to the beta before Goatboy set it up as the main board.
Started lurking in 1998 the year I built my house. Bought my AR-10 in 1999 and joined the board soon after IIRC. Planerench out.
Hesse Arms?! |

I am the Alpha and the Omega.
I am what I am. I don't need no stinkin' stats! |
Makes little differance.....................
I am here now!(and I'm going to stay!!) All you "old timers" pony up the $20 to become a team member. What is that? A couple 12 packs? (I really don't know, don't drink that much) Hessian-1out! |
I was just barely around before the changeover. I forget when...
I was in since '98, maybe something to do with the database or something.....<?>
The thing is if you read around the dates near the election of 2000 and I had hoped earlier the commonality of threads from then and now is amazing.
What is it about election years anyway??? Funny.... I don't see too many IBTL type posts there though....curious! Railgun....Not better n anybody else.... |

I remember when project AR15.com was initiated. Due to our inability to enact any kind of a nation wide gun registration, we encouraged gun owners to come register at internet gun sites. My team, along with several other teams of specialized ATF agents developed internet cells that would encourage the disclosure of firearms ownership. We started small with only a few gun boards, but as our success increased we branched out into several directions creating a number of specific gun boards to attract gun owners of every stripe.
We were supprised at the sheer magnituse of information that we were able to collect from unwitting "members", as they would often times provide a complete list of all personally owned firearms, often including pictures. The amount of data that we began recieving was difficult to store and sort, but yet another team was developed for this purpose alone. By this time our budget had increased exponentially. Thanks to the participation of the "members" of this gun board and others, we have been able to aquire psychological profiles of some of the suspects we had, as a team "red flagged" as potential problems in the future. The pure irony of gun owners voluntarily participating in our project, while at the same time decrying any attempt at Federal gun registration was amusing to us here at the agency. Keep up the good work and forget I posted this. We know you will. |

Uhh wrong. Check my member date. Member Since :: 11/18/2000
1st post on this board too. |
I started reading the old board in late '97 when I was researching AR rifles before I bought my first one, and joined around the first part of '98 - registering for anything on the internet was a big deal.

I was around for a few years under a different name and I never was a paying member the whole time. I used the site for information on ARs only and never felt the need to ask questions too much becasue all of the answers were already here for the reading. One day I suggested that someone manufacture 10-round .50 Beowulf magazines as a loophole for legally buying Post-ban 30-round .223 mags, and I was branded a TROLL by a guy named SHIVAN. I had a very low post count, and never got the posts up past 50 or so. At the time I took offense, but now that I've been around for a while I now realize why he felt that way. If any of you guys can figure out what my screen name was, there's a prize for you!

Talk about a blast from the past. HiramRanger & SgtAr15 are there. But...(cue laugh track) the moderators are DonR & anti-USSA. |
