ummmm ... he? (jokeing)

As with all electronics, they all go obsolete quickly.

Unfortunately, $250 don't get you much.

Try your local discount, and avoid on-line sales if you can.

I second that vote. $200 at Circuit City, but I talked them into giving me the $180 Website price.   $40 for a 256MB memory card, $60ish for a battery charger and 3 sets of batteries.

Canon stuff all the way--The A75 is a great choice.

I got the G5--5.0mp it is the bomb--I am still learning stuff that I can do w/ it.

I saw somewhere that a 1 gig 40x cf card was like $50.

I've had  good results with my Nikon Coolpix 3100.  Great little camera.

go to www.edealinfo.com  and look at the top for a link (it's a tab like a folder tab ) that says CATEGORIES,  then look at the digital pictures categories.  You can get a coolpix 3100 and printer for under 200 bones.

enjoy....

Check these guys out. I bought a Sony vidcam for JPL from them and they were significantly cheaper than anyone else.

There's a lot of good cameras out there on the market, but I wouldn't consider anything but a Canon.  I've got a G5 Canon and I love it.  It would cost you about $400 or less depending but you get 16X digital zoom and it will litterly do anything but
cook your breakfast.  The size is medium to small but not small enough to stick in a shirt pocket.  Anything from Canon and you'll love it.  Jim
