Good...yes.

I liked Aliens better. Even though it's SciFi .

*edit* ok then, best action? True Lies....Raiders of the Lost Ark

+1

As a bit of Trivia, the ending music where the big cop from Family Matters blows away the big blonde dude after the incident is "over" was actually written for Aliens.

Die Hard III, for starters.

Die Hard was a good action movie, but not the best by a long shot.

It's a very subjective question. Personally I think Predator had it all. Sci-fi, humor, Jesse Ventura and a minigun. Hard to go wrong there.

Die Hard (I) is definitely the best of the DH series (it didn't need sequels).

Commando is a good one (if you like your action pretty raw and without a lot of depth).

Die Hard was one of the first movies to start my search for better and better action movies.  After the movie was over, I just sat in amazement.  Everytime I hear Beethoven's 9th symphony, I think of Die Hard.  Still a great movie.

I dunno how you make that call. It was an action movie with a sci-fi element. Just because the antagonist is alien makes it sci-fi? Does that make Terminator sci-fi?

Remember a lot of film goes by without even seeing the Predator. The plot was based around a missing special forces unit who had gone looking for a guerilla camp...

Die Hard with a Vengeance, in spite of the lame name, was the best of the series. Even with the .38 scene at the end.
C'mon, how many hot killer chicks (killer hot killer chick?) were in Die Hard?

As far as better,
HEAT,
Raiders of the Lost Ark,
Tears of the... no, wait, not that one. That one sucked.

SA,
You just like it because of the Steyr AUG's in the movie.

Pretty good, but "Raiders Of The Lost Ark" is better.
(Some may consider it a war or Sci-Fi movie.)

I liked True Lies better.  As far as big budget action thrillers go.

I liked Desperado better even though it is a less than big budget action thriller.

Die Hard was a pretty good movie.  Just not my favorite.

I can still remember Christmas time of 1988.
There is no such thing as a glock 7 (it started with the model 17), Glocks are made of steel and polymer, not porcelain, and they are made in Austria, not Germany. They also never were that expensive (though that quote probably sold more Glocks than any other feature of the handgun) and they obviously won't go through a metal detector.

Dude, you're a dealer and you dont even know about the glock 7?  Maybe you should go to germany and look at the factory?

Die hard was good, ronin was good, the professional was good, the road warrior was good, scarface was good, 3 kings was good, the thomas crowne affair was good, goldeneye was good, gladiator was good, the hunt for red october was good,

I don't know, anyone ever seen the car chase in "To Live and Die in L.A.? Maybe I'm remembering it being better than it was but I was pretty impressed with it at the time. Been several years though.

+1, and it was excellent.

El Mariachi was OK but not as good as Desperado besides what the "original is always better" people may say.  Never saw the other two.

El Mariachi was the better film, but Desperado was the better action picture.
It was nice to see the jock strap revolver updated in Dusk 'til Dawn.
You could really see the roots of the Spy Kids in Desperado.
The bit in there from Reservoir Dogs was classic.

Personally, I though Alan Rickman's rendition of Hans Gruber was pretty convincing. Too bad he bit it in  DH1. The other Die Hard2 was okay, but it started going downhill after DH1. DH1 & DH2 were only ones worth watching. Forget about the rest of they're pretty blah!

This is the movie where Alan Rickman has the HK P7M13.

But personally, I like Black Sunday (1977) for movies in this type of genre. The grandfather of all terrorist movies.

I'm not sure how "Raiders of the Lost Ark" qualifies as Sci-Fi. It certainly isn't a comedy or a drama, either. That leaves one choice left: Action film.

"Raiders of the Lost Ark" is a better movie than "Diehard."

I, too, would rank "Raiders of the Lost Ark" over "Die Hard."  "Die Hard" is arguably number 2, though.

Other movies that come to mind are "Mad Max," "Death Wish," "Dirty Harry," "Bullitt," and "Ronin."

I would submit that one key element to a "best" label would be originality.  Thus "Last Man Standing" and "Die Hard III" are definitely not even players.

I would like to throw a few more in there, but you would probably claim they are science fiction or westerns.  Sheesh, this is like trying to find a movie at Blockbuster (is it Action, Drama, Classic...).
