Bush readies 'significant speech'

President Bush, stung by the erosion of his lead over Sen. John Kerry in post debate polls, has abruptly scheduled a major speech for tomorrow in hopes of halting Mr. Kerry's momentum.
In a rare, last-minute alteration to the presidential schedule, Mr. Bush has scrapped a planned talk on medical liability and instead will give what the White House called a "significant speech" about the two central issues of the campaign — the war on terrorism and the economy.

Stung by a decline in his lead in the polls? What the hell are they talking about? Pew and ABC show no change, the only ones who show anything different are Newsweek and Zogby and they are known to be corrupt.

Nope... no matter how good a speech is, it ain't an October Surprise... and October Surprise is catching Al Zarqawi and giving a national address on it... or finding Bin Laden... the surprise would be the underlying event itself...

Anyway, too early to launch an October Surprise... another week to ten days.

I think he should stow the speeches and be locked in a room with a tutor so he can get ready for the next debates.

There may have been some erosion in the polls--we do not know what the internal GOP polls say. Still up by 8 percent or whatever it was? Maybe not. The overall polls still look promising especially the electoral polls and also notice the recent polls Bush does better among "registered voters" than "likely voters". This means the Dems big registration efforts may be backfiring. Recall Minnesota in 1994 when Jesse Ventura was elected--because of all sorts of new voters joining the political process. Kerry is no Ventura.

Then how does the Washington Times or any other paper get ahold of the Bush campaigns internals? How could they know that? Its just spin, though strange coming from the Moonie Paper- perhaps they are trying to frighten Bush voters to ensure turnout?

Internal numbers aren't all that hard to come by. If I want to see them they are a phone call away. They won't fax me a copy of the numbers, but they will read them to me. The various state committees and state level coordinators receive them. No, I'm not either of those, but the State Chairman is a very good friend of mine going back a decade and State Committee is all of two miles from my home and I'm there a couple nights a week. And NO, I'm not telling anybody what the numbers are... I'll just say I'm not sweating too much these days... However, the election is NOT in the bag and none of us can afford to treat it as if it is.

So get out there, do your part, man the phone banks, walk the neighborhoods and hand-out literature, volunteer to be a poll-watcher, offer to drive shut-ins to the polls for your party, bring meals to the poll-watchers so they can stay alert and get through a 16-18 hour day with no breaks, donate money... talk to your friends, FUCKING GET INVOLVED!
