In a column published in today's newspaper,
William Saffire ridiculed the "Kerry Whoopee Parade" for failing to notice their candidate took a "neocon" position on foreign affairs in his debate with the President. He renounced the multinational approach taken by the Bush Adminstration with North Korea, perferring a unilaterla approach instead. Kerry also affirmed the country's right to wage preemptive war, csaid he would have ommitted more American ground forces to Iraq, and he asserted he would have cleared out Fallujah and other hot spots. Kerry even went so far as to claim America adhered to the doctrine of preemptive nuclear war during the so-called Cold War, something which Mr. Saffire said was reminiscent of Dr. Strangelove. It appears to me that the "winner" of the debate will be determined after the election. Kerry's smooth performance before a friendly Moderator did little to hide his remarks, which will haunt him through November 2nd.
