OK Lets get serious now. It seems to me that if the moderators are interpreting the COC to mean that images that are clearly art are unaccecpable because they show nudity we have a big problem. I was posting pictures from the Louvre Meuseum. cant get much more "Art" than that. Air craft nose decorations are widely concidered art too. Who are we trying to protect here anyway?
Lets please have a seriour discusion here. dont post any pictures that will get this locked! Ben, The_Emu |

It might need to change, but Goatboy and EdSr have the final say. You need to convince THEM, and explain how such a change would not harm their goals for the site.
No.
It may be harsh at times, but it does keep SOME of the BS in check. Its a GUN website. If you want T&A its not that hard to find. |
no your pics were a direct spam to stir up the issue on the other thread.
I and several others put a LOT on the line earlier this year to get some very good changes made to the coc. We fought tooth and nail to get some things relaxed here in GD. I'd be more than happy to not have to locked threads like that. I also don't really think nudes really have a place here in a gun forum. Some of us fought like hell to get BOTD back and i have yet to even look at one of those threads. If you post here you should have read the rules. Everyone that has been here more than a day knows such things are not kosher for a variety of reasons. mike |
Everything is fine just the way it is. Doublefeed is right on the money and TheBeerSlayer made the right call.
This is the Avila's house. And the house rules. |
I think that the "Nose Art" did not violate COC rules. There are times where there are OBVIOUS porn and there is Art.
Locking the Nose Art thread was extreme. These are aircraft that are at airshows where kids walk around and they dont drape them there. Sorry mods, have to disagree with your decision there. |
no problem with that from me. But i have seen accounts locked for much less severe pics. I'd rather lock the thread than lose a member. |
What are the goals for the site ??? |
No - the CoC does not need to change.
The implementation/application of it might sometimes be tweaked one way or the other, but the CoC is fine. And I'd like to say - in a completely non-sucking-up kind of way - that the mods generally do an outstandings job ! |
Why don't you ask them yourself? |
No. Some faggot frog museum doesnt decide what happens ont his board. Phuck the louve and the frogs. If I want art I will go to Manhattan. Lifetime rebel against france's bitch ass. |
Just did ??? |
Yes please I am asking -- what are the goals for the site ??? |
Did you just send an IM to them? If not, you can't assume they read every thread. |
You are their spokes people I am asking you what you think their goals are. |
Palo enough -- get off of my case I am being civil here I request the same of you. |

I would rather see warnings and deleted pics than threads locked. I have seen way too many good threads locked because of some dipsh*t 'poisoning' the thread and it goes south FAST. As far as accounts locked, I dont know if the ones that were locked out (accounts) were issued warnings or not. I have listen to members who have been locked out of ARFCOM on other boards and its amazing how they have changed their tune from how GREAT ARFCOM is to what a bunch of armchair commandos and immature twits we are. I think that there has to be a modification to the disciplinary actions of this board to say who has had warnings so when the account is finally locked, there is a trail so no one asks "Where did ______ go?" |
Apparently it was too easy a question --- no answers from the mods .
cyanide,
here is a serious answer. I have read MANY posts for SrStaff regarding how they want things done and occasionally a why. The MODS get very little inside information on such things regarding the administration of the site. As far as a STATED goal or mission statement, i have never seen an official one. I would assume it would be to provide a quality site that generates income but i am only guessing on that one. mike |
I thank you for an honest answer ----------- Rick |
+1 |
Please ask them yourself. |
I am asking you ---- as you enforce what you think to be their goals -- so what do you think their goals are -- easy question. |
There are some that like to view the work of Robert Maplethorep as art, I sure don't want to see any of that junk on this board. It's pretty clear, no nipples. |
deleting the pics in that thread would have entailed about 10 min worth of editing almost every post in the thread. If it's one or 2 posts i agree. Usually by the time i find a thread it's 2 or more pages of violations. We don't have hours to spend cleaning up threads. mike mike |

You can ask them yourself. Is that a problem? |
Kick in $20 and you're welcome to the clubhouse where you can cross post all the porn on the planet.
Seeing as how his is the best firearms site on the planet and there are more than a few million porno sites it's such a shame to waste the bandwidth that we gun owners pay for to get some porn which can be found every where else for free by every eight year old that can spell "tits". How much serious gun talk goes on at Penthouse or Playboy? Do you go there and bitch that there's not enough discussion about the merits of the .45 ACP vs the 9mm? |
The problem is that - you as a mod seem to be unable to state what you think are their goals. If you can not state what the goals are -- what are you doing enforcing rules -- I mean if you can not know why a rule is in place -- are you just blindly following a set of written rules with no room for interpretation ??? |
Yes, it is a gun website but it also has a GD which means just that, general discussion.
As for the goals of the site, I would really like to see them, honestly. I'm interested in where the site is headed. DF, you brought up the "goals" so you must know what they are, correct ? |
Cyanide, You will need to contact the Avilas to determine their goals for this site. Why do you have such a problem with that? |
I am not bashing or trolling here
It was / is a serious simple question every big time place has a mission goal -- I have heard that said here ----------- " The goals of the site" I just asked what the heck they were ??? No answer except for TBS, and that was a short answer. |
Alright -- do you know what their goals are ??? |
Cy - do a reply search on EdAvilaSr and Goatboy for the last month. Pick the controversial looking titles.
I don't know what "their" goals are for the site. I am not them, and am not a mind reader. You will have to ask them yourself. |
I will / might be speaking with EdSr tonight or tomorrow. But it will be a BS session, not a QandA. |
To any mod here reading this, do YOU know and understand the goals for this site ?
If not, why ? |
Blah blah blah. Lots of talk.. nothing being said. Heres how it works.. dont post bad things :)
WWII nose art.. is not a bad thing. But you know what.. WHO CARES!@ Why spend your time arguing about a thread.. on a message board.. on the INTERNET! Go shoot a gun or somthing. Christ. |
i can pretty well say as mods we all know WHY a rule is in place. What we can't attest to is the GOALS they want to acheive with the board. Frankly as a MOD i don't really think it matters if we know the goals. We have a posted COC that has been revised MANY times. It's not perfect and will always be subject to human interpretation.
For those that have never moderated let me give you an inside perspective. We see the same types of problems over and over again. Over time it becomes easy to spot them. A result of this is that sometimes we may react early to a thread we KNOW is going to die. I am pretty sure we all try to keep this from happening but it's another one of those human nature things. As a GD mod i normally spend 2-3 hours a day here. I end up reading threads i normally wouldn't even consider opening. It takes a fair amount of time and a good bit of judgement calls to do this job. We will make mistakes. We also do our best to insure a smooth flow of conversation and a semi family enviorment to give everyone the best forum possible. I can promise you there are as many differing opinions on the rules between mods as there are with the members. The difference is we have to enforce the rules whether we agree or not. |
mrphelps
I am here to converse --------- when I shoot I am not here. Go shooting. |
May I suggest then that all mods be aware of what the mission goal of the site is ----
it would make enforcement of the rules more "logical" .... JMO |
We know what the rules are, and it is our job to enforce them. If we have a problem with them, we can discuss our problems with Staff or the Avilas just like you can. If you think the CoC needs to be changed, IM or email Sr. Staff and/or the Avilas. Present your case in a compelling way and maybe the rules will change. Maybe not. The mods here do not make policy. We give input, but that is left for others to do. You can provide your own input but don't expect to get your way all the time. |
actually i think all of you owe me a big thanks.
That thread gave you all something to post about for the last hour. without me you'd have been stuck with BOTD, gun topics, and UFO's |
Yes, this is a Firearms discussion board...so I'm assuming you are supposed to discuss guns here. |
I didn't ask about the rules. |
