Don't fret, poll incoming.

Shotgun in 12 gauge, either pump or semi, with min. 7 round capacity
ANY weapon can be used to gain another weapon when you are a smart man
I picked the handgun. I personally don't care for shotguns, and would prefer the close quarters ability of the handgun.
You can carry a pistol undetcted. With a shotgun you would have to stay in the house.
If TSHTF, i wouldnt be stayin indoors...12 ga. w/ buck AK |
What are these 'field expedient devices' you speak of? |
I choose pistol because they are much easier to hide and you're less likely to stand out in SHTF Bug Out. A shotgun is far more powerful but much harder to hide if you do need to Bug Out.
If it's a bug in only situation, then I'd choose the shotgun. |
No, the correct answer would be a shotgun and a handgun. |
Large caliber handgun, ability to mount a scope
Defense, concealability (be reasonable) and outdoor survival - BG |
[pulp fiction] ...we should have shotguns for this shit...[/pf]
My thoughts exactly |
USAS-12 'Destructive Device' shotgun with drum |
Shotgun, 3in 00 buck
If a firearm isn't available, 1860 calvary saber on my mantle! |
Shotgun. One of the rules of gunfighting: Bring a bigger gun.
1... 2... 5! Uh, three sir. |
I would get an airsoft P90 everyone knows how lethal these things are
H&R single shot break action 20ga Ultra Slug Hunter with a Leupold 2X7X33 VX II loaded with Lightfield 2 3/4" slugs. You can make 200yds shots with that weapon.
I would prefer my H&K tactical with extra mags over my std 870 with a bunch of dove loads(all I currently have).
A shoty, 12ga, anything under is pointless...
Can shoot slugs, buck what ever you want. And you can easy take some one down at 100yds with a slug. Also if it gets dirt its still going to fire, This is my boom stick |
Ditto!! 12 Gauge with a combo of 00Buck--4Buck--and Slugs. 4buck and 00Stagerd, Slugs on the side for stuff out to 100 yrds. |

Normaly I would choose a shotgun, but the thought of having a Glock 18 was just too tempting.
Glock 18 it is. |
I didn't say to turn in your 10mm standard caseless armor-piercing ammunition. |
what are you thinking i'd go for the slingshot, you'd never run out of ammunition
worked on goliath didn't it. Seriously though, probably be tempted to go the route of some sort of ar 15 pistol variant. Not a rifle, but could still use all my 5.56 and mags. Or is that cheating? |
Legal as long as there's no shoulder stock (according to the BATFE). |
If open carry won't get you in big trouble with the po-po (i.e. they have bigger things to worry about) then I would take a shotgun over a pistol any day. Similar effective range, but a shotgun is far deadlier, with a wider variety of ammo choices. |
I picked handgun, but it really depends on the situation.
If I am in close quarters, a handgun is the easiest to manage, and proably the most tactical / practical....if i needed more firepower....a 12ga slug gun would be my choice. Too many variable to pick just one and be prepared for eveything |
