I've seen it. It is very good!  Makes me want to own  one.  I thought about it back in the late 80's.  I ended up buying  a Daewoo Max II .223.  It was only $375.00 at the time and it used AR15 mags. I could afford it!  I loved it......  Wish I could have bought a Gal. now!!!  My God, the Israelies made some good weapons back then.
IMI still makes some quality weapons now!!!

I was lucky enough to shoot the Galil, FN-FAL, and the Uzi with our Dutch partner unit in '91

What's the story on the Negev?  M249 knockoff, or something different?

Is it just me, or was the Galil just a warmed over AK with some extra bells & whistles?

It's based on the Valmet, itself a copy of the AK rifle.  I has better sights, controls (both AK controls and thumb selector on the left side, above the pistol grip).  I guess they used milled receivers which made them heavy.
The show is a little outdated, the Galil is no longer in front line service (replaced by M16 series rifles), but at least it doesn't have stupid toy guns and actors, good show so far

When they developed the Galil, it is my understanding that they started with actual Valmet recievers, FAL folding stocks, AR barel blanks, and a bunch of hand fabbed parts as well. That was all mashed together and out came the Galil.

Why did they say the FAL was so bad?  I thought the FAL was considered to be the bees-knees in MBRs.

It's similar to the M249 and serves in the same capacity. But IMHO, it's a better weapon than the M249.

Too heavy. Too long. And it seems it didn't like the sand all that well.
