I remember the Laurie Dann incident. A little background.
Hubbard Woods is a neighborhood in Winnetka area. Laurie Wasserman Dann had grown up in Glencoe - an affluent suburb just to the north of winnetka. She had had some history of was a nanny in the area. Unknown to her employer, a few years before, she had gone "ticky in the head", and spent some time eating with a plastic spoon in a Wisconsin (ya-hey dere!) psych facility. She had gotten three guns from somewhere (.22 Beratta, .32 S&W revolver, and .357 IIRC), and, after sending poisoned drinks to several frats, AND setting fire to her employer's house (with her and her kids in the basement), she went to school for "show and tell".
Her Daddy had refused to surrender his daughter's .357 when the Glencoe police had asked for it earlier, stating the "she needed it to protect herself " against her ex-husband, a man she allegedly stabbed with an ice pick while he slept.
She used to ride elevators all night in Madison, WI.
OK guys - no bullshit. This is a true rich-ass limousine liberal area. I've worked in homes down there that cost more than I'll make in my life.
These people are all investment bankers, commodities traders, and trophy wives driving lexus and mercedes SUV's that consider a gravel driveway "off road".
You can't buy a cup of coffee there for less than $2.
When the Dann shooting took place, one of the horrified mothers was all over the news, hugging her child, and crying out:
How could this happen? That's not supposed to happen here

(translation - Let the n-----s and the s---s kill each other... not us precious white folks)
That's the attitude. They've busted their ass, gotten the big house, the bleached blond mom, the
au pair to raise the 2.3 kids, and the fortune in charge card debt.
Real life is what happens on the news, to
poor ordinary people... not them.
Money has insulated them from reality.
