How many of you guys go see Doctors when shit is wrong with you ???

I don't unless I really have to.
Example : 4 broke ribs - could not sleep more than 2-3 hours and that was while in an easy boy chair.
After 3 days broke down and went in to "walk in hours"  for pain meds.

People here say see a doc ------------ well yes, if I have gang green, or bleeding I can not stop, hell I will even put in my own stitches if I can reach it.

Once I cut the tip of my finger off, well almost, had the wife finish the job with a pair of scissors.

I hate Hospitals and Doctors -- give them both  half a chance and they will kill you.

Yup, I'm proudly voting "only to prevent my imminent death."  Drs often make lousy patients.

There is some truth to what you say.  Personally, I hate treating very old patients.  If my patient has made it to 85, there's a lot of room to fuck things up for them.

I found a great doc for myself but the one time I was sick this past year he wasn't in.  I saw his partner, a real bitch.  It was like she was trying to win the Worst Bedside Manners Of The Year Award.  I go out of my way for each and every patient and my practice is thriving.

Only when I can't stand up or see straight anymore.

Maybe if I knew one like you I would see one more often.

Pain and fear of death are the only things that will get me to go.

Too many people these days run in at the slightest sniffle and ache "because I have insurance, I might as well use it."  Fuck that.  Insurance is already high enough because of assplugs like this and ambulance chasing lawyers.

The ones without insurance and who can't pay (or won't)  get a free ride of the rest of us by running to the ER for stupid shit.

Don't be such a puss.  If you have an ailment, seek treatment.  If you know what the hell is wrong with you then deal with it.

How many posts have we seen where people have cried out, "Doctor's opinion, my pussy hurts."

Far too many - go to the friggin' doc's office and stop asking for advice on a gun board.

Bob's a special case - he's made of nails.  You can't break him.

Hell , advise is welcome, even from  the gun board.

I am breaking down,  getting old I know that. Can't run to the Doc with every ache and pain. Besides even with the lame insurance I have it is expensive. Too expensive.

Its got to be embarassing to admit that.  My apologies if my words brought that out.  Maybe it would be to your benefit to seek out someone who is knowledgable about medical issues and ask them for their opinions.

Respectfully,

One of most brilliant parts of health insurance is the deductible.  You underestimate how effective it is in steering away people from the doctor's office or the ER.  In Canada (I'm originally from there) they tried to introduce a co-pay of $5 and the communists/socialists were up in arms about how it will be an impediment for those who 'can't pay'.  You wouldn't believe the shit I see with Medicaid patient's here.  They went ballistic recently when the co-pay for prescriptions went from 50 cents to 1 dollar!  I've talked to pharmacists and they've told me that they service at least several Medicaid recipients a day who can't/refuse/choose not to pay the co-pay, but the drug is still dispensed.  Depending on the drug, the pharmacist's only profit margin is the co-pay of 50 cents or a dollar.  Although the pharmacist usually makes some profit when the Medicaid recipient buys a carton of cigarettes on the way out the door.

Medicaid patients in NH can have their dental care paid for but must pay a $25 co-pay up front at the time of the visit at the dentist.  They can get hundreds and hundreds of dollars worth of work done on their teeth at a visit but most of them will let their teeth rot away rather than pay a $25 co-pay.

Eat right, sleep well, exercise, don't smoke, drink in moderation, regular sex and time behind the trigger at least twice a month and you will rarely need to see a doctor.

And from what I've seen, a fine one at that.  I'm proud to at least be an Airborne brother!

as a former paramedic i can say i do whatever i can to AVOID going to the doc. Self diagnosis is a horrible habit to try and break. I guess i saw so many morons dial 911 for paper cuts that i have a respect for what a real emergency is. Even when my kidney stone was kickcing my ass i drove to the local doc in the box before the ER.

I really have to wonder if some of these guys would have been able to survive 100 years ago.

mike

There are lots of things, but especially medicine, that allow people to live longer today than 100 years ago.  I'm happy for better medical care, but I sure wish some of the other risk factors were in place.
