I'm not certain that the 'Miss America' Pageant can survive a 'race to the bottom' that might arise if these new fangled 'improvements' continue.
Think of who actually watches and attends these events. Not the typical 'Girls Gone Wild' group, eh? If we are really serious of making such matters germane to picking out the 'real' Miss America, then maybe we need a team of nationally recognized gynecologists to select the most attractive 'nether regions' among all the candidates! They've finally moved into the twentieth century.
Too bad we're in the twenty first century. A friend of mine had a nice vintage convertable which one day, he had down in Atlantic City. This was years and years ago. The pagent promoters saw it and approached him about using it in the pagent where they put all the contestants, one each, in the back seat of fifty covertables and drive to the convention center in a procession. So guess what? He ends up doing this gig every year for seven years (of course it's his car so he gets to drive). At any rate, he says that he was never very impressed with any of the women. They all behaved like a bunch of spoiled brats who never did anything in their lives except compete in beauty pagents.

First, what should he have expected? Second, what's wrong with great-looking spoiled brats? Both of the Ex-Miz Huns fit into that category, and we had a great run of fun. Nice. All images removed. Beyond simply quoting the CoC, can anyone explain the reasoning for this?

CC rule #2, *.
2.) Posting pictures* or links to images which contain pornography, nudity+, animal cruelty, racism, or sexism. (Any images of violence which are extreme will be removed and may result in a warning or worse.) *Posts with images of violence or photos of scantly clad men or women should contain a warning in the title. These types of images will not be tolerated if inserted at random in other discussions.

It is the thread originator's responsibility to read, understand, and abide by the Conduct Code. We are not babysitters here. I could have simply sent the thread to Trash, and everything would have been lost. By handling things in this manner, all images can simply be edited back in, appropriate warning added to the thread title, and the thread is restored, and may continue. If you have a better way to handle things, feel free to let us know. Many of our members peruse the site from work, and we cannot have images popping up that could get them into trouble. The rules, and this method of handling them, have evolved over a two year period, and is deemed best for all concerned--but it requires knowledge and compliance by all. I could have done an edit of the title--merely added "(BOTD)" to it--and I do that if someone gratuitously posts a pic within a thread, but when the thread originator is the problem, he/she needs to become aware of the rules (which should already be known, but we give the benefit of the doubt) and the manner this was handled is the best way to accomplish that. Everyone can restore everything and continue normally. If the rules are followed, this does not happen, obviously. |
