In all honestly, I didnt know about the ban until I came on this board in April.

ETA: To answer the question, I was hooked to the AR15 rifle shortly after.
(Now with the Ban dead, I own my own Evil Black Rifle)

I DID shoot an M-16 on Semi-Auto while in the Boy Scouts, so that was my 1st taste

When I was referred to this site from another person a couple of years ago. I was looking for a .223 varmint rifle, and the Bushmaster Varminter caught my eye. I posted a shooting question on a fishing website I frequented back then and was given a link to here. The rest (much like the AWB) is history.

About the 7th year of the KLINTON REGIME..........feared worse case scenario, gun ban, police state, etc etc...........

Since then, I think a few of my ulcers have healed, and my membership to the Missouri Republic Militia has lapsed..................Missouri has CCW, Ashcroft guarantees gun ownership, the AWB sunsets, nation wide concealed carry for Polce, and now it's looking like Bush will get re-elected........The sun just seems a little brighter today!!!

Went to a gun show on a lark and saw a Hi-Point carbine (didn't buy it). Thought, "that's cool." (this must have been 99 or 00?). Googled "carbine" and discovered this place. The rest, as they say, is history.

Bubba Clinton had already perpetrated his evil scheme before I became a gun nut.

ETA: maybe that was pre-Google. Must have been Lycos, whatever.

Guns in general - 1966 (I was 5, but our house was definately a pro-gun place) Got my first .22 when I was 5.

Assault weapons - early `70's. Owned at least 1 AR continously since 1978.

I bought my first AR15 in California in 1982, an SP1.
Most of my friends bought AK47's and made fun of my "plastic toy gun".

I ended up owning an AR15 and an AK47.

When I reansfered from California in 1989 I sold them as I thought I could always get another.

When I moved back to California in 1993 you can imagine my supprise when I went to buy an AR15.

By the time I left California in 1999 I had 4 AR15's.

I grew up with guns. I got my first at 6 I think. After My time in the Army, I wanted an AR type, but I had a family to take care of and the money wasn't around because I was going to school full-time. Finally got my first AR in 2000 I believe. I have BRD now, THANKS to this place.
