Okay,  guys, I have installed: spydoctor, spybot, adaware, hihackthis! and am running McAfee antivirus  software. On every other computer I have owned, spybot, adaware and McAfee did a fine job of keeping things clean.
With my new laptop(cyberpowersystems) every time I start up, the spyware programs find at least 150 different malicious programs running.
Any Idea on what the hell I can do?
I would hate to have to format and reinstall windows, but this is getting absurd, and I don't know what else I can do besides the above mentioned programs.
Anyone have a "magic pill"
Any and all input appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Get the latest Symantec Norton Antivirus and Internet Security.  Add Adaware adaware .  Some spyware gets through but adaware takes care of it.
Also, quit cruising all those porn sites!!!!

Seriously, you can also install the latest Windows XP Service Pack 2.  I've installed it doubled up with the above software and my laptop seems to be running fine.  Highly recomended if you are using a wireless internet connection as well.

What is a good one?

Stop cruising porn?
I don't think so. Maybe when my evil half gets here next weekend.

Service pack 2, already got it.

Windows, updated already.

Will try Norton.

Thanks guys, anyone else have any ideas? There has got to be some "Mother of all Programs" out there somewhere.

I have Norton's Anti-virus, the problem is that it is a memory hog. I have 796MB of memory, and after a few hours the memory requirements grew to +1.5GB. Response was extremely slow due the fact the system was constantly paging programs in and out of real memory. I switched Macafee, it doesn't seem to take up as much memory.

run a clean install and load sp2 right away.  Hunting down some of the buggers takes way to long and is entirely too frustrating.  I spent 4 and a half hours on friday cleaning up one computer at work had it not been a holiday weekend I would have just formatted it and been done in an hour.

Mozilla Firefox

no one is asking you too

Mozilla Firefox stops all of the popups.  Have not seen one since switching.  It takes a bit to get use to but after that it's all good.

Set you default browser to Firefox so your spyware can't lauch itself.  You will still need IE for little things but I've switch and I'm spyware free as per Adware and Spybot.

btw, photos.ar15.com, your photo server requires you to use IE.  Or else you will run into some issues.  Other than that. You are good to go.  Use us IE on sites that give you issues with Mozilla.  But that's not many since most sites are well written HTML pages.
