Since the differences between Democrats and Republicans are starting to look more and more regional, does anyone think there will be a call for seccession if Kerry loses a close one?
I know on Ducks Underground I have seen threads like this. |
Naw, but there may come a time when we don't want to be in the same Union as some of those red states!
Whether anyone acts on such a premise is anyone's guess. Eric The(IfFirstYouDon'tSuceed,SecedeAgain)Hun |

Sending our liberals to Canada in exchange for their conservatives seems like a better idea.
Sounds good to me. And those that find canada too much like the US can head to france. |
Nope...
Won't happen... 'A house divided, cannot stand' If anyone tries, well, we all know what happened LAST TIME... Fortunately, the USA is immune to any 'revolution', 'revolt', or similar... It is a good thing too, as what we have now is built on this stability... And what we have now must be preserved, unless you consider 1870 'ideal' living conditions (I for one, do not)... |
Nazi Germany a was also pretty stable befor WWII. |
I'm ready for the next Civil War, if someone would just tell me when and where to show up...
I would love it if the liberals would all migrate to Kalifornistan and leave the rest of us alone. Never happen though.
no they weren't...... |
I believe I am correct. If it wasnt for WWII, I think we would still have Nazi Germany today. |

Why would the liberals try to secede? We're the ones with the guns!
This is a great idea! We should give liberals the state of New Mexico, and let them be their own seperate country. They can have any gun laws they want, any sex laws and any tax laws, etc. Then we can laugh as the country is invaded and sacked by 5 people with evil looking BB guns. We will call it France 2.
It would be like Pakistan & India in the 1940's. All the pinko-commies streaming in their microbuses and Volvos to the coasts and all the SUV's loaded with guns and ammo heading for the interior.
If any southern states are planning on attacking Albany, I'd be glad to provide maps. |
I must admit that it seems the political divide is widening. I don't even want to discuss the other side's views--they piss me off. I'm right, they're wrong (of course that's what they're thinking too!). I don't want to "compromise" my views to be able to live in harmony with them.
"Can't we all get along?" In a political sense, no, we can't. And I'm not interested in doing so either! Hopelessly divided........ |
Never happen!
If all of the hippies, commies, deadbeats and weirdos formed a seperate country, then there would be no one to give them their handouts! |

Good point! |
Agreed. The idea of U.N. troops coming as peacekeepers to the American equivalent of Kosovo does not appeal to me. |
yup, parasites need a living organism (the employed) to live off of. |
I was waiting for that! Kinda struck a nerve, eh, ETH? If we gotta come down ONE MORE TIME this place is a parking lot! (just kidding) |

I live in a Blue State and I hope we don't leave the union.

I have the PERFECT solution to this delema;
US and Canada join. Divide this huge country in two at the Mississippi, or therabouts. The division line swerves over to the east coast on about the Mason-Dixon line. Move all the liberals over to this new "blue zone". All the conservatives move west into "Free America". Liberals can do WHATEVERTHEHELLTHEYWANT with their country, with the the caveat that we aren't going to help them NO MATTER what. Free America operates according to the Constitution. This is the perfect plan. |
Which is neccicary for any functional political system... Our system is adversarial by nature, the idea is that since the 2 parties are so diametrically opposed to eachother, neither one will let the other get away with murder.... |
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe something similar has already been tried. The South didn't declare war on the North AFAIK, they just wanted to be left the hell alone. |
If I am not mistaken, one of the founding fathers warned against a two party system. I believe it was Madison. 96Ag |
The problem is the parties are not opposed to each other. Both want my tax money and both want to increase their power over my life. It is just a matter of specific areas and degrees. But regardless of who wins, no one is going to give my freedom back. |

+1! Dave, I really meant meant it when I said that you should read the Federalst Papers and the Anti-Federalist Papers last week. I understand you call yourself a *neo-con*, but without truly understanding the political thought that this country was founded on, you're just parroting the Fabian Socialist lines. Respectfully, -FMD [ETA "respectfully". Not my intention to hijack or start flame-wars!] |

ETH, if the liberal assholes up here force the issue, I'm counting on you to A) Let me and Lorie stay at the Hun Farm until B) We can locate property to purchase and submit our papers for Texas Citizenship. Hell(goodol'boytrappedinaYankeebody)dog40 |

There's a huge political divide, but it's not by state, it's primarily Urban v. Rural. Even in Red states there are islands of Blue in the large metropolitan areas, and even in the Blue States, the rural areas are Red, Red, Red. The Left is highly concentrated in just a few states, and even then primarily in the cities.
No, there won't be a political secession. But I wouldn't be surprised to see riots. |
You are wrong. The opened fire on the Federal garrison at Fort Sumter, thereby opening active hostilities. |
Noooooooooo Charlie |
If the Liberals secede who they gonna tax and who they gonna protest. I say give them New England with the caveat that the cannot come back or ask for help.
Liberals want to take away your guns and raise taxes on the rich.
Conservatives want to take away your right to privacy and raise the taxes on everyone but the rich. Of course if people were smart they'd realize there are more than two political parties. But I digress I'm giving Americans too much credit for their intelligence. |
Well, I'm all for kicking KC & St Louis out of Missouri. Jeff City also if need be. |
Since it's obvious that urban = left and rural = right; can anyone offer an explantion why this is so? Mild Bill |
People who live in rural areas must be more self-sufficient. They have a better grasp on reality. Police and emergency medical response is 20 minutes plus. Bad weather can mean being cut off from town for a day or a week. People in rural areas tend to know each other. Cities provide a level of anonymity that you cannot find in small towns. People are more connected and are less dependent on a faceless bureacracy. Are hostile to the faceless bureacracy, in fact, because that bureaucracy tends to be overbearing on the rural areas. In short, they trust themselves more, and government less. With cause. |
