Reminds me, (beware war story-sorta)...
I was on R&R, in Syndey, and I had always heard that the 'Aussies' were serious about their drinking, so it was a Sunday morning and I heads to the nearest tavern. It's 9am and there was a gaggel of females waiting for the place to open, all standing by the door. When I turned up the walkway, the place had just opened it's doors, but those ladies, seeing me approaching, made a opening, and the one nearest the door, opened it and waited for me to enter first. Man, that was something. I sure enjoyed the feeling.
Yes, I did feel it was my duty to buy every one them a beaverage. They were sure nice.
Some may say that those 'aussie' ladies saw an 'easy-mark', (young GI), that morning. But my memory, doesn't remember it that way.
34 years ago, and it still makes me smile.
