I really hesitated to ask you all any questions regarding this procedure, duh, but need to have some info for and against this deal.  Just realized that I did not want any more kids!  Two is enough for me, more than enough for my wife.  Do your nuts get like the size of grapefuits?  Or is this a "wives" tale.

Hope to get a response or two on this

Actually, you aren't going under the knife, the knife is going under you!

But other than saying it seems the procedure is becoming more and more common, I ain't got much to offer. I am gonna keep my "goods" in functional condition for a while longer as I'm not yet married and hope to have a couple of kids first.

Worst part is the local. After that it's a breeze. You've never been so alive as when you watch smoke curl up off your balls. Take it easy afterwards. Loose sweats, ice, no work, walking, lifting. I had very minor swelling and no real pain. Others I know have had it bad. Near incapacitated bad. Most of those were too much a man to take it easy afterwards and did some sort of moderate to heavy work.

i would not get another vasectomy since it hurt like a mother fu@*er took me a month before i could walk comfortably and 6 months before i could have a piece of pie!run, run real far and fast.
j/k never had one could not even image the pain you will be going thru.friends had it done and they where uncomfortable for a couple weeks but was back at work less than a week.

I had one last year, and it was the easiest thing in the world.

From when I arrived and parked at the hospital, until I drove myself home after the procedure - was right around 45 minutes, total.  I iced the boys afterwards, and laid around on the couch watching tv, but never really had any swelling or pain.  It was incredibly easy and convenient.

For a small number of patients (a few out of every hundred) you can get a bit of an infection, where you start to get some swelling and soreness - and then you jsut get an antbiotic, and you're fine.  Let me emphasize that this is RARE, and is very mild, even if it does happen.

The only negative I can even point to, is the slightly nasty "burnt" smell when he cauterizes the vas tubes.  If you're lucky, you won't notice, but you might get a whiff.

Fellow attorney at my office got it done. His balls got infected, swelled to the size of softballs, and he was in agony for two weeks, and off work for four.

He researched it, and learned that side effects and infections are common.

Don't worry too much about it, you will have some discomfort and a little pain for the first day.
Remember to have some bags of frozen peas. They are the best, as they will mold to your nuts to help you with the pain. So go to the supermarket and get some before the surgery and don't wait for the pain to come, just apply them as soon as you get home.

Pain goes away after a day, Itchy balls from the stiches.
The only wierd thing I have is your balls ache a little bit the 1st year every couple of months but it's not bad.
I don't even notice it anymore.
I kept some sperm in cryogenic storage for a couple years in case we wanted kids, Yes you go in a room with porno mags and jackoff into a cup.
I had mine done about 13 years ago, fun to hump like bunnies and not worry about getting pregnant.

Use bags of frozen veggies intead of ice.  They're not as cold and do a better job.  Get a bunch of DVD's and watch them for a few days.  Don't go lifting anything or you'll hurt yourself.  Also stay off your feet as much as possible for at least a week.

I had it done about 3 years ago as a birthday present for my wife . When I was stripped and laying on the table exposed, my....uh....manhood was a shrunk up like a turtle in the shell.  Sorta like he knew what was about to happen. Somebody else must have told him 'cause didn't have the heart to break it to him I told the assisting nurse "It may not look like this procedure is worth the effort, but this isn't one of my finer moments.  She burst out laughing & said "I've heard a bunch of excuses but that's a new one"  The local was just mild pick.  It wasn't painfull just somewhat uncomfortable.  You get this funny tugging in your lower back muscles. Follow the doc's advice....loose pants, ice, no lifting.  In my case I got a little black & blue.  DO NOT scratch.  Make sure you tell your wife you'll need her help "evacuating" your tubes at least twice daily AFTER a week to heal up.  She'll need help also when it comes time to produce the two post V samples

Had mine over 20 years ago. The local was kinda painful but it numbs up quick. Read a book while they did it. When back to work as soon as it was done. No ice, no pain meds, no problem. Just slightly sore for a few days.  Had a blast in my 30's after my divorce.

Good luck with the procedure and if you use the frozen veggie's for cold packs we will know where the hair came from in the cooked corn.

I had mine three years ago.  Had it done on a thursday, was off work on Friday and Saturday which were my days off and back to work on sunday.  My job involved physical activity.

Ice/frozen peas are your friend.  Make use of them.  Tight underware/jockstrap is a must.  The boys feel like they weigh about 20 lbs afterwards.  I didn't need any pain meds for mine.

It was probably a month before I was ready to get back in the saddle but boy was it better than ever.  Knowing that pregnancy is not going to happen made the sex so much better.

Don't take any aspirin for 30 days before the procedure.  Or else you'll bruise, big time.

Jock strap.  Stretching will cause bruising, big time.

Ice for first 48 hours.  The frozen peas/corn is good advice.

I was getting an occasional twinge for the first 3 months afterwards.  Rare and didn't keep me from doing anything I wanted.  Except having another rug rat to chase.

Screw up on the aspirin/support/ice advice, and you'll get the grapefruit size black balls that'll take weeks to resolve.

My Dad's advice to me was: "Don't be a dumbass like I was, and take a bath that night!" His back
was hurting more than the boys, so he figured that there'd be no harm done if he took a hot bath to
help ease the muscles.

It might have helped his back, but I well remember him hobbling around bowlegged for the next week,
acting like he'd been butt-pirated by John Holmes. According to him, the boys got all big & sore.

Me, the jury is still out.... I think we're going to go for another one first......

No big deal, just follow your doctor's advice to the letter.

My doc told me to leave my wife alone for a good 4-6 weeks to let things heal up properly.  Those who ignore the medical advice and tough it out often end up with complications.

I had occasional pain for a while afterward.  Went to my doctor once.  He said that it was probably just a bit of scar tissue resolving itself after my daughter accidentally stepped on the lads (as toddlers will do).

None of this pain is very significant and can be easily resolved with Advil or other OTC meds.  Take a solid 3 days off after the procedure.  Do nothing but watch TV, read and eat. Then take it real easy for a week or two afterward.  The frozen peas advice is good advice. SO is the jock strap or tight underwear advice. Support is good.

I JUST had it done 2 weeks ago.  The procedure was "scalpeless" meaning there was a puncture hole made and the cut and cauterizing was done through this hole.  No sticthes and no swelling.  They only do the procedures on Fridays at the Urologist I used, and I was back at work on Monday. The procedure itself was OK, felt like a light kick in the balls on each side.  I was couch bound all day Friday, with ice on it as much as possible.  The rest of the weekend was pretty light.  I didn't go anywhere, or lift anything.

No heavy lifting for a couple weeks.

I did yard work 1 week after and wound up stopping after about 4 hours.  I felt some discomfort and didn't want to delay the healing process.

I am at work for the first time today without the jock strap.  BTW, don't get a jock strap, get sports support briefs (new version of jock strap, kinda like boxer brief underwear; MUCH more comfortable)

YMMV, as I have heard from others that it was worse for them, I have also heard from others that their discomfort was far less.  Feel free to email me if you have any specific questions, I'd be happy to answer them honestly for you.

All in all, no big deal though.

They are FUN... had two sexy nurse looking at my equipment, then came the "local" - shit burned, after that NOTHING. Whacked off 10 times in two days, brought in semen sample and "passed" the no seed test. Popped the "ole" lady, packed and went hunting - no pain and was marching up and down mountain. Did not lift anthing heavy - so it was a snap. It does take away the incentive of giving the Mrs. a "pearl necklace" - but enjoy the bareback romp!!!

Had mine done about 30 years ago, by the same dr who saved my bacon from testicular cancer.  Had it done the old way where he made an incision to see what he was grabbing, and can't remember any problem but that might have something to do with the comparison to the pain I had from the previous 'issue'.  I think I'm hearing about more complications since this new method of sticking a crochet hook in there blind and dragging the vas out.  I've had so much surgery I think it is mainly how good he/she is with the knife.  I once had the exact minor 'band-aid' surgery on each foot.  Two different dr's.  One didn't even get sore, tossed band-aid after the prescribed time.  The other was very painful and took pressure bandages to get it to stop leaking and heal (and his incision was twice as long).

I'm not a dr, just have been too good a customer over the years.

No seriously thanks for the info, need all I can get.  I am hoping the Doc is not to drunk when he comes in for the procedure, it is at 4:00pm.  Might get in a quick nine and a couple stiff ones, no pun intended, before the op.
