Regarding the porn, IMHO it's one thing when someone gets his girlfriend to pose with an AR-15, quite another when people post non-gun-related porn images they found "wherever". Oh well. I usually don't get into this, & I know this isn't the suggestion forum, but after reading some of the posts today I'd suspend registration for a while - not for good, just to give the other moderators a break. There's no reason to put up with this crap,,,, well, there is one - money. This ought to cause a snit (whatever that is), but if a new usernames cost five, or ten bucks they'd be worth more to some people (About $5, or $10 more anyway). |

Well I didnt suspend Reg, but I did suspend the ability to change your email address from the one you registered with.
I will create a new tool to do this, so that if you do change email accounts, you will request the change, then be logged off and a temp pass put onto the account, then an email will be sent out to the new email account so that it MUST be legit. No more being nice I guess... Also, I posted this guys information for everyone to share. If you wish to strike back, feel free to flood the ISP he came through with complaints along with his IP address and the time of day he was connected, they should be able to pinpoint exactly who it was and either terminate their account, give him a warning, or do nothing. The point I was trying to make is... This site has several forums to discuss anything you want "Strictly Gun Related"-- It also has [red]1 forum[/red] to discuss anything you want; from that bad movie you just saw, to the stupid guy who just installed your car-radio (Be expecting a thread on this from me real soon) In this [red]one forum[/red], occasionially people post porn, or rant and rave, or use foul language. But, what is so disturbing about that? This is, after all, to quote goatboy, "a public site"- A Microchosm of the real world. To think that this site would somehow be "sanatized" of all the things that might disturb the more puritian amongst us is wishful thinking. |

1. I really haven't seen much porn on this site, am not offended when I do. Usually the post refers to whats in it, don't go in if you don't want to look. 2. This has been said over and over, but this is the general discussion forum. Gun lovers of all ilk can come here and blow off steam, ammuse each other, or to get an opinion on something that interests them and just may (god forbid) interest somebody else. There's more to life than our common bond of AR-15's (like our apperant love of Monty Python). 3. Just how exactly do you define "troll". Just somebody disagrees with somebody else, and does so passionately, that doesn't make them a troll in my opinion. 4. I'm not wearing any pants. |

If you don't like reading about non AR 15 stuff, go to the Training area or the reloading, or the ammo area. I love talking about non AR15 type stuff with folks of the SAME MINDSET as myself. IE, no tree huggers. I don't think I'm alone here as most of this board's traffic is in the GD forum. |

See, this is why I keep preaching to everybody that I need to be a moderator.
I agree that "General Discussion" should be open to almost anything and everything. Ironically, I also believe that porn isn't necessarily gun-related by any means of the word and isn't proper for the General board, although I do slightly enjoy it at times. Besides, it strays from the professional front we're trying to put up for visitors and other "conduct prying" people. Although "nudity" is accepted by the Conduct Code, I think some people have been taking advantage of it as of late. So, I hereby declare that we should have *TWO* General Discussion forums. We could either go along the lines of [General Discussion - PG] and [General Discussion - R], or simply [General Discussion] and ["Other" Discussion]. It's not too bad of an idea; by simply creating one more forum area, we eliminate all bitching done from/to members and staff about improper material, and still maintain a clean, shiny "GD" forum. If any improper material, as seen fit by the moderator using the conduct code of AR15.com, is found in the main General Discussion forum, then it can be transferred to the "Other" forum. Porn is readily available on the internet, if you need it go visit it somewhere else. Read the announcement containing forum conduct code. Take it elsewhere, like Goatboy says. I have neither the time nor patience to deal with it, hack 'n slash comes to mind. The people administrating/moderating here have fulltime jobs and do this as an extra. Kuiper |

Usually I admire what McUzi does for the forum. Your thread here, however, just proved you over-analyze too much and were intolerant of an open-minded idea.
Now that that psyco-crap is outta the way, you should know that I don't have a problem with anything posted here on the site. As I previously stated, I enjoy porn every now and then, and considering "nudity" is accepted (at least by Goatboy's standard) then I fully accept any fashion of nudity, which explicity INCLUDES pornography, on this site. However, it seems that everybody else is moaning and complaining about "this isn't right" or "there's too much of this crap", so I was simply offering an alternative to the norm. As far as my wanting to have [i]authori-tah[/i], I was simply stating that I have a head full of ideas about possible, even if improbable, changes/improvements/upgrades to the board (this being one of them, as an example). My concern here is mostly of bandwidth, NOT conduct. If given the status of moderator, really the one thing I would focus on most would be to periodically scour old threads, find the ones that have not been updates or read in quite some time, and delete them - for purposes of saving space and improving site speed, that's all. I'm not saying I "don't give a crap" about the forum conduct, I just have other priorities in mind. Just chill man, we're on the same side here. Jewbroni~ |

I find it refreshing that's there's almost no censorship on this forum. I posted "Glock Sux" on The Firing Line and those assholes blocked me off the forum. (Yeah, right . . . Like I can't get past a block.)
But yes, let's have a "BS" section and a "Gun Discussion" section. I like both, but maybe they should be separated. |
