It is an Arborvitae, and a couple of sickly looking examples at that.

Btw, if it matters to you, when the deer and moose run out of everything else, they will eat them. Didn't read it on the internet, I know this for a fact.

Hell, the deer here have plenty of options and they're already eating mine.

Arborvitae.

Looks like the ones that get real big.

I have a lot of them on my land I planted for windbreaks and privacy. Very hardy.

Deer haven't eaten on mine but they love rubbing antlers on them. Good news is they grow back just sucks.

Cedar.

I don’t know about any different kinds but that looks like what I grew up with. Dad planted it as our front yard “fence”.

FYI you’ll need to wrap it for the winter though.

For over 20 years our cedars were full and bushy. The people who bought the house didn’t take care of them and now all the bottom halves are bare.  There’s no fixing that shit.

This is true. I have a arborvitae hedgerow between my property and the neighbor's with the bottom 3-4 feet completely stripped from the deer.

That there is like cotton candy for deer. They’re gonna love it!
When people ask you why it grows poorly below shoulder height, just tell ‘em it’s called Deer Blight.
