Had every intention of jumping but I got cold feet and couldn't take the plunge. Water below is PLENTY deep enough... Any tips?
I don't want to 'ask my husband' or turn in my man card. I reckon it is about 40 feet? Also, I am 51 years old, if that is relevant. Back when I was a teenager a little over 88 feet.
My dad did 88 feet as a kid and I had to beat him. NEVER AGAIN. |

Some of you guys are crazy.
 Most I have done is like 20-25 feet when I was a kid. Honestly I don't remember clearly enough to give an accurate estimate. Feet first of course. I'm no diving master. |

I grew up jumping from all types of cliffs up and down San Diego's coastline.

Higher than that, maybe 40-50 feet, could have been more or less. There is a bridge in Alabama people would jump off, you had to climb up the girders to get to a platform to jump, don't remember why. I'm scared of heights, took me about 30min* to jump, no way I was climbing back down (people did.) Surprisingly, everyone was really cool about my freezing up, because they had to climb around me. I will never do that again.
*Was probably only 10min, but seemed like forever, long time ago. |

Plug your nose.
Last time I went swimming at the quarry I had about a 1/4 cup of water pour out of my nose. Also I prefer to keep my shoes on. |

This is my highest jump. They dismantled the crane a few years ago but can still jump from the cliffs.

10M platform at the Air Force academy during water survival class sophomore year. Had to wear BDUs, and make it to the 25M bulkhead after jumping off the platform without coming up for air.
Only dude in the class who did it.

25 or 30 feet. The most memorable was jumping off the boat house at Rock Island state park, in northern Lake Michigan, in May. The water was about 40 degrees. It was high enough that you had time to think about the fall and the water was so cold you immediately tried to leap out the second you hit. Of course you couldn't you had to finish traveling 10 out so feet down before you could start swimming back to the surface to get out.

We used to jump from this one in Weimar CA. Water was so clear you could see boulders 20 feet below the surface. We'd jump off all day long. OP: Just jump. Every jump after that is easy.

Used to jump off anything, when I was younger.
Probably stopped around mid 30’s, because I just wasn’t in those situations anymore. A few years ago, mid 40’s, on my buddies yacht.. he and were going to jump off the top deck into the ocean. Took my about 12 minutes to get the courage to jump. Couldn’t have been more than 30 feet. Lol only reason I jumped was because my kids were cheering me on and my wife and friends were taunting me. No more high jumps. |

Highest I've jumped was about the same height as OP's photo. Looked scarier when I was younger. Made the mistake, somehow, of lifting my legs straight out into the air. My balls and legs got tore up on that dumb move.

 Attached FileThis is from high school Bob Sikes Bridge to Pensacola Beach. Small bridge to the right is a fishing pier. 35' roughly. We would jump off that. Climb up the platforms you see on the left on the road bridge piling. The bigger your balls or the smaller your brain..the higher you jumped. The roadway I think was 65'. Lets just say I was really dumb as a teen and figured the higher I jumped the better chance I had of getting laid. |

Been off this one a few times, the crane ( Washington ) , the one near Weimar ( Ponderosa road ), the footbridge just up river of Sunrise Blvd, think I was about 10 for that one, the high rock at Waimea Falls. Never had any problems jumping into water.

I did about 60 foot one time. Never again.
Used to go to this spot when I was in school. Never could get the nerve to do the big jump. Go to 47 seconds to see the big jump.  Extreme Cliff Jumping @ Red Rock |

45' in a stone quarry in Indiana.
Feet first wearing bluejean cutoffs. Impact split the outside legs of shorts up to waist band. I had enough sense to keep my feet together to protect the jewels.

Around 70' - 80'. Off the top of Dale Hollow dam into the water on the reservoir side. We used to do it a lot until a guy that was drunk got hurt, then the Corps of Engineers started having people arrested for going over the side rail to jump into the water.
We started jumping off the swinging bridge at the main island then. The drop was usually about 30' or so. |

50', Hermit Falls in the San Gabriel Mountains. Glad I wore shoes, feet made solid contact with the bottom. Chantry Flats was another fun jump in the area.
