Having done OEM phone support for 2 years I can say this is quite a rare event.

On the other hand unless KA3B is a g33k, the Lap and WAP are probably setup in Default modes and his neighbors can get broadband for free.

Isn't that the truth...I've got 3 different wireless networks I'm able to log into, if I were so inclined.

You mean there are security settings for these things?
So if I tell you it's Linksys wireless doohoohicky you will be wardriving by my house?

Go to this link (I know it's for Dell routers but it's useful) and download the two microsoft patches to yse the WPA excryption scheme. It's much more secure than WEP.
