Quoted: Why don't you just replace the group icons with a yellow star of david "Gun Owner" icon for each of us, since that's where we are headed. Like this. https://www.ar15.com/media/mediaFiles/49274/Piece_Of_Flair_Morale_Patch_large-367355.jpg View Quote I actually like this idea, except give everyone on the board two badges - a star like this with the word Jude and a Christian fish icon. We might as well acknowledge who we are right now...and who they are. |

Quoted: I would simply ask that you just please make sure that if something says it is DELETED to us, that it is in fact deleted. Also that you don't have unhashed credit cards (or billing addresses for them) stored in the clear or with keys stored on the same server/instance. No one I know of has done anything wrong on this site, but if I sold a Super Nintendo, or used pistol grip, or 22 conversion kit on the EE 8 years ago and IM'd the buyer with my address for delivery of their money order, in the event that AWS "accidentally" lets the whole backend of the site get scraped, I would not want my personal identifying information blasted all over the god damned lefty internet. Just my two cents. View Quote The EE for now hasn't been touched. The store address information has been scrubbed for everyone's security. If you get a membership the data is removed nightly. We never store CC information, so that's not an issue. |

Quoted: @goatboy On a slightly different but related topic, regarding the plan for a name change tool... is it possible to obfuscate usernames in the archives, and allow users to use a different name going forward? That is, if I posted a bunch of stuff in the past that could be datamined for identifying information, it doesn't do me a lot of good to use a new screenname now, since it could still be tied to me. A lot of people might want to separate themselves from things they wrote in the past, and change their posting habits going forward. View Quote We are looking to modify archives when they return to no longer display user information with them. This way the content is saved without attributing individual posts to people. I think this should fit your concern! |

Quoted: while we're getting off topic a bit (my bad) The feds know you're here local cops can find out you're here there's nothing much you're going to do to stop that what you can stop are the "activists" who think they're doing good deeds for their overlords. I see all sides of the threat, some of them you're not defeating by removing group icons or using bitcoin (still won't btw) - cut off the levels you can for now. The point isn't 100% or nothing - it's doing the best we can with what we have View Quote Listen folks. We are all part of this community and have done nothing illegal to worry about. The doxxing threat is always there no matter what. Just be careful what you say and where. This does not only apply to the forums, but to life. The actions we are taking are simply to make it a little tougher for folks who want to engage in illegal activities like doxxing and targeting others. I have never hid my information and don't plan to start now. I am a patriot of this great nation and I am a gun owner. I believe in the Constitution and freedom of speech. I have been discriminated against for being Hispanic and sadly, I fully expect to be discriminated against for being a conservative. (Constitutionalist to be more exact.) |

Should have just replaced all the icon image files with geese.
If you were an NRA life member, former .mil, and VCDL...you'd have 3 geese. |

Quoted: This is why I never sent one in. View Quote As noted above, they've never saved them. And in everything I've ever read on the topic, including the original instructions I followed, they made it clear that they receive it, review it, and then delete it...and they also state that you can black out portions of it. Or just don't send it in. We're all good with that. |

We never store CC information, so that's not an issue. View Quote This is not my area of expertise; so there should be no recipient (including the CC processors) who can tie a membership purchase here to a card name and address? Obviously you guys have every incentive to protect user information, but some woke database admin at Amex doesn't have the capability, even if they had the desire, correct? I'm not referring to responding to court orders, which I am sure they do all the time, I mean woke leaks. |
