I think so, and after talking to some of the “management” I know I’m not the only one. A few years ago I used to love checking out the EE for bargains on something slightly used that someone wanted to trade or sell off. Now its all cluttered with dealers. I think the EE should be a place for people to buy and sell individual stuff. Today, if someone posts an item, within a couple hours its buried on page 3 under all the dealer posts – most of which are worthless. Take a look at the(some, not all) of dealer threads and see all the wasted space used to continually bump up a thread when an IM or email would suffice. There’s gotta be a better way.
I would like to see every sponsoring dealer with their own industry forum, that’s where their for sale items should be. |
That makes FAR too much sense. It has been pleaded for in the past few months...
Why can't one thread contain all the items for each dealer, I have NO IDEA.... |
Why not have a section that allows them to post specials or other such items but does not interfere with the "Classifieds" idea of the Equipment Exchange? Or does that already exist?
I think it's interesting that a DEALER has started this thread. Yeah, it wouldn't hurt my feelings if the dealer ads were culled from the "regular" EE ads.

I wouldn't bother me one bit if the whole EE fell off the end of the board. |

I have a NICE ad over there right now. Check out the handguns section if you don't believe me.
No, but they should be restricted to the industry and EE boards. that way they wouldnt be spamming the other areas, like GPSS does to the ammo board.

View Quote Restrict it to the industry forum or something similar. Hell's bells, we have to pick through dealer ads in the EE as well as here on the general board. |
Might be easier to make a "civilian" only board.
I like the dealer adds myself but its easy to see that they over shadow the private adds and thats unfortunate as thats where some of the best deals are. |
how about a forum on the EE for dealers to post their sales and specials. that way people looking for them can find them easily and the rest of us won't have to wade through the junk.

In the past, I have done a couple of deals on the EE, more recently, I cannot stand to go in there, with all the dealer ads on the front page, too much sorting to see the non dealer ads.
I don't have any cash to buy, so I have been looking for swaps or trades, and dealers typically will not entertain such things. So I stay away. I hope something can be done, that makes everyone happy. Maybe a pinned thread with a link to the dealers forum or some such? |

That sounds good. I go to the EE to find private sale items.
It's nice that the dealers post specials there but I get tired of wading through their ads when I'm looking for private sales. I also get steamed when I see a good deal that turns out to be LEO/military only. I suggest a separate forum for dealer specials and a rule that LEO/military only offers not be allowed or be restricted to the industry board. |

Damn, I'm on the minority on this one I guess. I see Costa Arms selling Glocks for $455 shipped and Quantico Arms selling Eagle Arms stripped lowers for $75-$85....

I say YES, and team members should also have there own EE so we can deal among each other. I would then have a general EE so that anyone else interested in dealing could also do so.

View Quote No you aren't, I think some of the best values here are from dealers, I buy from dealers more than regular guys. I see guys listing used Aimpoints for almost as much, and some times more, than you can get them from Eagle, but they get snapped up, I don't know why because people assume you are getting a better deal from a private individual? Same thing with guns, uppers, parts etc etc. Hell I've gotten scopes that don't work, mags that don't work and month wait times to get stuff from regular guys, and no these aren't "bad guys" but from people who buy and sell here all the time. Alright I admit I'm a little jaded, besides my bad luck I hear all the "Fred won't ship my whatever" stories-then Fred tells me how he's soooooo distraught that his girl took off with their love baby, the Yugo and the checking account that he can't drag his ass down to the post office to ship out that knocked around 20 year old upper that he got a money order for weeks ago.[rolleyes] No one ever tells me about the deals that go good of course. What if a dealer has his own private sale thing going?
Really the EE is much like the auction boards, 10,000 dealers with the usual stuff, 50 guys trying to offload their crap & maybe 2 guys with something you might actually want. |

I think it's interesting that a DEALER has started this thread. View Quote Dealer has such a negative connotation to it. I don’t think of myself as a dealer, as I have only been in business for 13 months (and have no intention of making this a career). Put me at a get together with 50 other arfcomers and you would never guess I was a dealer; from what I have seen with a majority of “dealers” I have experienced, - as Senator Benson would say ““I know dealers, and you sir, are no dealer”. (sorry, I just love that quote) I used to check the EE all the time for something that I don’t need but would like to have. If that was to be done and we made the EE just for regular guys, not businesses, how would we still provide some kind of reasonable way for the dealers to sell their stuff? View Quote I would like to see each with their own industry forum. How about not allowing any replies in the EE, only edits? Everyone gets to post once. If the item sells delete it, if the prices change, edit it. For future reference, the dealers can add links to their EE posts in their own industry forum. That way it would still show up in a search of the industry and EE forums. |

vendor? better than dealer but it sounds like you sell hot dogs and wear a paper hat.
hmmm... 2 EE section? Garage sale and vendor area for industry partners who pay for an ar15 "store front"? |

Quoted: I think it's interesting that a DEALER has started this thread. View Quote I thought the same thing at first. I just gained even more respect for Steve/ADCO. I would then have a general EE so that anyone else interested in dealing could also do so. View Quote That sounds like a good idea too, but it might get a little confusing if there were three sections (Dealer, Team & Freeloader). I think that maybe the Avilas should consider limiting EE post to Team members only. If you want to post in the EE, cough up $20, it ain't a fortune. Quoted: Damn, I'm on the minority on this one I guess. I see Costa Arms selling Glocks for $455 shipped and Quantico Arms selling Eagle Arms stripped lowers for $75-$85.... View Quote I don't want to see the dealer ads go away entirely. I buy from both dealers and individuals. I usually look at the dealer ads when I need something specific. This is a quick way to find the best price on a given item. When I scan the individual ads, I'm generally just looking for good deals on stuff I don't necessarily need, but can't pass up. Not really impulse buys, things I'd like to have but wouldn't buy TODAY if it weren't such a great deal. Having to sort one from the other can be a major PITA. Another suggestion would be a seperate thread for 'Group Buys'. I thought that these deals were on hold, but more and more are cropping up everywhere lately in the GD, EE, and who knows where else. What happened to the original thread on this subject in the Team Forum? |
I agree, I'd like to see a dealer only section, and then one for the rest of us selling our used junk. I'm trying to get rid of two guns right now (A Kimber TLE and a SLR95) and they keep getting bumped down by dealer spamming.

Perhaps they should make a Freeloaders forum, and make everything else pay-only. Maybe that would get rid of some of the cheap bastards around here. |
To add a little more to the confusion, I think that the team members need their own discount forum. Dealers give the team members a discount. Depending on what level team member they are. $20, $30, or $40 off.

I agree, I like the idea of a swap meet/garage sale type EE.
I think it should be separated into individuals and dealers. |

That might be best. [EDITED:to add thought hehe] |
I have found a lot of deals from privates and dealers both on the EE and I like it the way it is.
How about this.....GB can just add a filter you can check in your profile to show dealers in EE or not. Should be simple enough.
I would like to see the EE as a place for individuals to buy/sell/trade used gear. The industry ads definitely have a place, but I would rather see them in a separate forum.
A dealer section sounds like a great idea and something I heard rumblings about when I paid my dues last year. I can definitely see that wading through dealer ads when looking for a good used part would be irritating. However, dealers, industry partners, etc. do pay more for advertising fees, and I'll tell you that quite a few items on the EE are going for very little profit to the dealers, so members are getting deals on great products. So...it seems like a good deal all around. I mean, I hate to be the voice of dissent...lol. All that said, a dealer section is a great idea! Banned? Not a great idea...[:D]

I think dealers should have their own section of the EE, leaving the rest for everyone.
Not that the dealers don't provide a valuable service, but quite frankly, it gets hard to find the real good deals when they quickly get buried under all the dealers "bumps" and "updates". |
Goes to show, you can please everyone all the time:-)
The more I think about it, I think not allowing replies(only edits) in the EE would be the easiest most effective way to go. Anyone see a downside to that? |
no downside at all.
I enjoy the EE as is. I enjoy the benefits of competitive pricing, and it easy when private and dealer sales are in the same arena. As is, shopping is easy there cause you only need to browse ONE page. I don't want to switch back and forth from private sales to dealer sales...not at the refresh rate ARFCOM offers... Keep the system as it is, it works. If the yellow throws you off...switch your screen to black n white. |
