So I was up north a bit with the family in part of the country where people don't wet themselves at the mention of 'firearms.'

And horror of all horrors I discovered a park where people go and shoot BB / pellet guns on the weekend. No range fees, no government supervision, etc.

Well I knew I had to act.

So I check out this kid (we'll call him Opie) with a very UnPC pellet gun that looks just like the M16 Bushmaster Machine Gun used by the notorious DC Snipers.



Upon further inspection I found out his weapon was a rapid fire 5 shot, single pump pellet gun.

So I swung into action as he was clearly not maximinzing his firepower.



So I broke out my Cav 15 w/Colt .22 converion and a brick of Super Colibris and checked him out on the function of the weapon.

Clued him in on a more practical shooting position and gave him a full magazine.





He did a lot better.

I feel my work here is done. It was nice to finally contribute something positive to society at large and to help the children.

Everyone reach one, if it makes only one child a man.

Yeah, I get the feeling Ralphie is gonna want to update his Red Ryder.

At least I didn't have my MP5.

Sitting here thinking bout a "Million Opie March" on Washington.

How bout we get a couple thousand (Yes, that seems to qualify for a million these days) Opies and their BB guns and march on the capitol. [:D]

Pellet / BB guns have no significant discharge, and neither do Supers.

I don't think the velocities were great enough to bounce one back to us but I suppose it's possible.

Best part of kids is they haven't grown a "scary gun" gene yet.

All he said upon seeing my rifle was "cool."

House to the NE about 1/2 block away but not in the line of fire. Targets are in a depression and there is a sorta homemade berm on the backside of the fence.

I should also mention I didn't design or build this improv range, I was just there.
