While I think the Stryker itself is a mistake, one of the things they did well with the new interim brigades is beef up the sniper count.  I think there are 3 times more snipers than in a normal infantry unit.
Notice that this guy is in a line company.  In standard units, snipers are all in the Battalion HQ.

Davis has taken most of his shote while on the move, from distances of 100-300 yards. On Dec. 20, he killed one sniper with a single shot from a .50-caliber XM-107 rifle from 750 yards away.

"This is the first time I have in ever been in a combat situation," Davis says. "Really, it was just like targets downrange. You just hit your target and acquire your next target.

"I thought I'd have a harder time shooting," he says. "Shooting someone is pretty unnatural."

Great article.  I am glad to see that the author doesn't seem to have any problem with the way SGT Davis operates.

Also another point of proof that skills of an individual rifleman will always be beneficial -even in these days of high tech weapons.

I don't know why these so called "experts" need a M14.The mouse gun is the most deadly platform known to man.

Just to clarify things I've got 3 mouse guns but I'm grabbing my M1A when the shit gets deep.

Kinda gives me a warm fuzzy to know an old warhorse dinosaur is being dragged out of mothballs and put to good use.

The M-14, that is.
