SGTIMAK also posted a list of his company.
Is there a way to merge the lists, so some people don't get alot, and others get nothing? I am also confused with the asterisks/notes, the way they start/end, I am not sure if the note is about the next person, or the person above. (yeah, I am dumb sometimes) Suggestions for the listed who do not have a "suggested wish"? |
|
Also if you want to write a letter to 'any guy' just write it to "Military mail" or check out http://www.militarymail.org
These guys are worth it, send 'em some confidence |

Bump. The wife and I are going to get one last Christmas gift tomorrow, will try to pick up a bunch of cards to send them. The cards will likely be late for Christmas, but better late than never. At least they will know someone is thinking of them. They ALL deserve our support, especially the ones who have no one else.

::sigh::
Imagine being so far from home and having NO ONE out of 300,000,000 Americans care enough to send a simple Christmas wish. [V] tacked |

Ok, it's only 12 pages to copy, let's get this to your Local VFW, Amercian Legion, DAV and where ever there is good group of people.
Lets get them taken care of. Email your friends a hot link to this. SGTIMAK, On the way! |

FWIW, I'd do this myself, but I'm packing to go back to work between posts and I leave in a few hours, besides, I don't have a printer.
A lot of you guys seem to like the SEC tales. If you have time to dig them up, (I don't have them all saved) maybe the troops would like them. |
|
The wife and I are getting things tonight. We will see that a few people get some things.
Thanks for the info Tall Shadow |
|
Every soldier on the list will receive a Christmas card this year.
Myself, my wife, 13 year old son, a 4 year old daughter sat down and wrote each individual soldier a message in a Christmas card. It was a very humble and fulfilling experience. Hopefully the soldiers will be touched. |
|
I was looking around for guidelines on food items that would be appropriate to send and found this link: http://www.wisinfo.com/postcrescent/news/archive/local_9410918.shtml
"Desirable items include individually wrapped candies, microwave popcorn, nuts and other snack foods, Kool-Aid and other sweetened drink mixes, sugar, creamer, tea bags, hot chocolate and hot cider packets, toiletries such as razor blades, shaving cream, tooth brushes and toothpaste, shower gel and soap, hand cream and body lotion, wet wipes, foot powder and sunscreen." . . . "Alcohol or food containing pork shouldn’t be sent to the Persian Gulf because they offend Muslim religious sensibilities, USDA said. Aerosol cans are not accepted because of shipping dangers." The wife and I have sent several cards and some boxes of books, magazines, and games. I'm hoping to get some food and toiletries sent as well. |
|
When my offspring was there, she wanted junk food (spagettios {spelling?} even). Send the toiletries but send a few snacks as well. They appreciate it I guarantee... and don't worry, they will share whatever they have with their buddies so when you send it to one Soldier or Marine, you will get it to many. Send feminine items too. They will get to the right person.

I just got home after spending over 10 months in Iraq just south of Baghdad with my transportation company [bulk fuel]. I have had no time to check into the forum lately but this caught my eye instantly.
What you guys are doing for these soldiers is truly a wonderful thing. I know how much mail call can mean. I know how a simple letter, card or an unexpeected pack of baby wipes, bug repellant or beef jerky can brighten a day. It was hard enough for me being in an uncertain, hostile environment with close family support. For those soldiers who don't have that good fortune you are their family. Please continue to help in any way you feel you can. It is most needed. I am home now but most of me is still in theatre, still living life 9 hrs ahead of current time and still spending most minutes of every day wondering and worrying about the safety and welfare of the friends, brothers, sisters and even my girlfriend who are still there. I thank you for what you are doing. Spc. X--Kill |

Jesus Fucking Christ!
I feel like a selfish asshole to the n-th power. I'm sitting here 2 days away from heading back to Ft. Jackson to sit on my ass till i get cleared (security) and I'm feeling sorry for myself. Yes, I'm going to be away from my wife, but she knows I am safe and she will see me soon. I got lots of letters from her, almost everyday during basic. Write to these soldiers PLEASE. Things like this post really put it all into perspective. My problems are nothing. I'm in no danger, just inconveinienced. That poor widow... she could be my wife someday. Now I have something to be sad about. Thanks Shadow. I feel better now. I'm gonna write somebody... you all should too. Take this list to your child's class room. I got letters from my S-I-L's 5th grade class, it made me feel so proud and supported. Gift ideas: led lights $1.99 at walgreens folding scissors maxim magazines for males ;) |

I printed the entire list out and my wife and I are going to go through it tomorrow and pick 20 or 30 names. Then we are planning a trip to BJ's and buy some cases of things like Jerky, Nut snacks, sugarless chewing gum, granloa bars, pens et... I'll be sure to post the names we pick so we all don't duplicate efforts and send a few people a lot of stuff while others end up with nothing. I wish I had the time and resources to get something to everyone one on this list.
