A buddy's grandfather just passed away. His dad and I were discussing what music to play at his father's funeral. Strangely enough, all I can think of was "Amazing Grace."

Nothing with bagpipes in it please!

I want the funeral to be a happy occasion...since it will be a homecoming for me!

The first thing that came to mind was "Another one bites the dust!" but would probably go something more traditional.

Amazing Grace is a great one and will probably be one of the ones chosen.

"Big Balls" by AC/DC

I don't have any relatives remaining that are older than me, all of my friends are already gone, and have no living children, so I guess I'd fail at my goal of offending people with it.

I lost a six year-old great-niece a few years ago, and at a funeral next to hers, there was a bagpipe playing "Amazing Grace."  That was too depressing.  I still tear-up when I hear a bagpipe or that song.  I don't want something like that played at my funeral.z

I want to be buried in my Army dress greens with an American flag covering me while I'm holding one of my AR's in the casket with me until it's time to close it for good. I want Amazing Grace on bagpipes and Lee Greenwoods God Bless the USA played and TAPs played at the gravesite. I love my country and Soldiers are my Heroes.

I want 'Fall Out' by Train to be played.  This song is on the We Were Soldiers soundtrack, and that is the only place I have ever heard it.

If you are/were a soldier in life and a man of honor as well, this is the song for you.  It is incredibly uplifting, but very remorseful at the same time.

Amazing Grace is a good choice, but I prefer the Chris Squire version, performed with a bass guitar, and bass pedals.
Amazing Grace with an attitude.

if you haven't heard it, listen to Enya's "How can I keep from singing".

It's an old Shaker hymn.
