A buddy's grandfather just passed away. His dad and I were discussing what music to play at his father's funeral. Strangely enough, all I can think of was "Amazing Grace."

This again?
Amazing Grace on Bagpipes and Frank Sinatra "My Way" Sgtar15 |

I second the Amazing Grace on Bagpipes...Then I would have to go with Kid Rock, American Badass.
AC/DC......Hells Bells
Scratch that... Since my wife already passed.. Ozzy....MaMa I'm Coming Home |
I think that "addagio for strings" played at Monaco's Princess Kelley's funeral (theme from platoon) is a beautiful piece!
Play that for "me" when i die. |
Quoted: I second the Amazing Grace on Bagpipes... View Quote Third. Assuming, of course, I bother to have a funeral... |

"Amazing Grace" on the bagpipes
"Knocking On Heavens's Door" |
Nothing with bagpipes in it please!
I want the funeral to be a happy occasion...since it will be a homecoming for me! The first thing that came to mind was "Another one bites the dust!" but would probably go something more traditional. Amazing Grace is a great one and will probably be one of the ones chosen. BigDozer66 |

"Big Balls" by AC/DC
I don't have any relatives remaining that are older than me, all of my friends are already gone, and have no living children, so I guess I'd fail at my goal of offending people with it. I lost a six year-old great-niece a few years ago, and at a funeral next to hers, there was a bagpipe playing "Amazing Grace." That was too depressing. I still tear-up when I hear a bagpipe or that song. I don't want something like that played at my funeral.z |
Bye, Bye, Bye: the Backstreet Boys, that way I can piss off a whole bunch of people after I am dead by making them listen to bad music.
I've told the girlfriend and best friend that Funeral for a friend ( Elton John ) is to be played if and when my time comes.
I'm leaning in the direction of 'always look on the bright side of life' by Monty Python

Metallica - Enter Sandman
[edited] Sample Lyrics: Exit Light, Enter Night Off to Never Never Land |

“Blood Upon the Risers”.
As I’m a Former Paratrooper, that song would be perfect. For all you Legs out there, it is sung to the music of The Battle Hymn of the Republic. |

I want to be buried in my Army dress greens with an American flag covering me while I'm holding one of my AR's in the casket with me until it's time to close it for good. I want Amazing Grace on bagpipes and Lee Greenwoods God Bless the USA played and TAPs played at the gravesite. I love my country and Soldiers are my Heroes.
COZ |
I want 'Fall Out' by Train to be played. This song is on the We Were Soldiers soundtrack, and that is the only place I have ever heard it. If you are/were a soldier in life and a man of honor as well, this is the song for you. It is incredibly uplifting, but very remorseful at the same time. |
Amazing Grace is a good choice, but I prefer the Chris Squire version, performed with a bass guitar, and bass pedals.
Amazing Grace with an attitude. if you haven't heard it, listen to Enya's "How can I keep from singing". It's an old Shaker hymn. Jay |
"Knocking on heaven's door".......Ma, put my guns in the ground, I can't use em any more....
Over the Rainbow. Sung by the dude at the end of the movie with the ex-007 agent. You know, the black kid and the ex-007 agent.
"I can only imagine" will be played at mine if I get a say!!!
One or all of these:
Chris Falson - 'I see the Lord' Delirious - 'Mezzanine Floor' Third Day - 'Love Song' Third Day - 'Thief' Robin Mark - 'All for Jesus' Chris Tomlin - 'The Wonderful Cross' Matt Redman - 'Let Your Glory Fall' Okay, so there's lots ... I'm gonna stop putting more down. |
"I'll sleep when I am dead"
"Ave Maria" "Lawyers, Guns & Money" |
Linus & Lucy, the piano piece from the original Peanuts Christmas Special. Because no one can hear it and not smile. |
Taps at the burial site.
The Final Peace by Jeff Beck to start the wake. Train kept a rollin by Jeff Beck to finish the wake. In between they can pick and choose from the 3000 + pieces of wax and plastic in the house. |
