We use to have a road called Devils rd. ,  they wound up building a few houses on it and the people who  lived there bitched to the county and had it changed.

There's some residents in Chicago who are trying to change the name of their street as well.  Everyone mispronounces it.  It is supposed to be pronounced 'Kray-Poe', but everyone reads 'Crapo' off a sign and says what comes to mind.

I guess I would agree with them if it was 'El Crapo' but it isn't...

They are even changing the name of Hwy 666.

Aparently, some Native Americans feel that it was a curse of the white man when they numbered the road.

We have a Hangman Creek that runs through Hangman Valley here that the people that lived there wanted to change but was shot down by the Dept. of the Interior because you can't change history.

Here in SE Texas, we have a Jap Rd that some ACLU types wanted to re-name becuse they thought it might be offensive, even though no one had ever said they were offended.

We also have one called Vaglicka.  No one has said anything about that one.  I laugh and elbow my wife when we pass it.

F4Q would be another option?
Liberty Blvd. in Cleveland, named in honor of the WWI vets was changed to MLK Blvd.
They could have chosen any other road but that one.
Not to discount MLK in any way, but that isn't right.
Not enough WWI vets left to complain anymore.

You know, Speedway, IN, where the Indianapolis Motor Speedway is located, is actually where the historic town of French Lick was. So, technically, the race should be called "The French Lick 500!"

San Diego has Eurkinda Pl. and Haveteur Way.
