You've got that right. It won't be long before we are watching holographic 3D images of everything from television to telephone conversations. The images will look as real as any solid object. Can you say "Holodeck"?

Imagine the fun one could have making " visions " appear to primitives.

When they can make the projection solid, I'll be bowled over (of course, by then I'll likely be DEAD, but what the hey...)

If holodecks are ever created, you won't have to worry about drugs. People will disappear into them for years.

Great.
I wonder what the "secret sauce" that they'll expect you to breathe will be?  One fart and the picture is ruined for 30 minutes.

I have seen articles on this before, but untill I see one or they come clean with a explination of how they are doing it I will remain skeptical.

hmmm, will the image still be 2D, or have they added depth to make it 3D?

...3D would be sweet.

Hmm you don't have a link so I'm not sure if this is the same thing... but the one I've seen blows out a thin stream of some fog-like substance and projects the image onto it.  So yeah the image "floats" there... the secret is how to get the fog to stream out as a thin laminate flow.
